Fish Reports

Hue got a nice early morning fish to start the day. We escaped the wind this morning and the fish were happily eating their favorite bait fish.

The weather was much needed, but the high winds spreads the bait fish and the fish weren’t as podded up today. We want that nice calm water to keep everything balled up. Kinda like the last week shown above. Yesterday was a banger! Today was a quite a bit tougher. In October we want mellow weather. But, you can’t catch em from the couch.

Opening weekend was a good one with the lake fishing well. It has slowed some since, the Cutties are deeper chasing the chubs. For consistent action you will need to get out on a boat to access the deeper water. Look for the lake to flip in the coming weeks, consistent cold weather will make this happen and the fish will be accessible for the

            Last few days been fantastic. Rainbows, Cutthroat, Kokanee and big numbers of lakers.     If you fish deep you can beat up on the spawners but the meat is soft as they are providing nutrients to eggs and milt, go mid depths from 35-65 over 80 ft and strong numbers of 1-3 lb Mack’s not mature enough to spawn but firm orange meat great for table fare

This year’s opener at Pyramid Lake was both spectacular and unforgettable! The weather was perfect and the LCT’s were on the prowl chowing on baitballs. Our team netted a total of around 65 fish, all at ranging depths depending on what time of day it was (15 feet in early morning/evening and 35+ midday). Not to much shore fishing as we were chasing the baitballs

We are having a great run of stripers this time of year. It’s mostly the 1 to 3 pound fish that are being landed here below the Davis Dam. Now and again the larger fish are out there it’s just the smaller ones can and will get to your bait first.  Well our local angler Dale Grace found that out  he landed a nice 34 inch

The ranch has fished very well this week with anglers reporting having great days down there, mainly nymphing with the same types of patterns as listed above as well as a few fish being caught on streamers. Pyramid Lake opens on October 1st. The lake level has dropped a couple of feet from last season. This will allow anglers to access some drop offs that have not been within casting distance in a few years, but will also make some drop offs that were a perfect depth last year too shallow, we will have to move around the lake to dial in
