Fishing is slow due to the most-recent heatwave. As air temperatures go down, water temperatures will follow suit, creating better fishing opportunities. Trout are taking spinners, spoons, PowerBait, and night crawlers. With dove season open, visitors can hunt in the early morning and fish after.

With passing heatwaves, aquatic vegetation continues to be an issue. Hopefully, overnight temperatures will start dropping in earnest and the vegetation will clear up. Trout and bass are hitting on a variety of lures and flies, as well as taking PowerBait and night crawlers.

Anglers starting in the morning before it heats up are catching bass and crappies using jigs and small spinning lures. With overnight temperatures beginning to drop, the trout bite is improving. Anglers are using spinners, flies, and PowerBait in sunset sparkle.

South of Casino Row, anglers are catching striped bass on trout-patterned lures and anchovies. Bluegill are taking night crawlers fished under a bobber in shallow areas. Catfish and black bass fishing is slow with some action being reported in marshy areas of Laughlin Lagoon.

The striper bite is beginning to pick up in the Cottonwood Basin. Fish up to 5 pounds are taking soft swimbaits and anchovies. Near the dam, anglers are reporting better luck when trolling jigs. Black bass anglers are having success with topwater baits and soft plastics in coves.

Stripers are chasing threadfin shad near Echo Bay. Bone-colored topwater baits and soft swimbaits are popular choices to throw into a boil. Black bass catches are hit and miss. Some anglers have had luck with crankbaits in bluegill patterns. Catfish are hungry for anchovies and taking baits overnight in weedy areas.

Striper boils are popping up intermittently throughout much of the Boulder Basin, Overton Arm, and close to Temple Bar. Fish are attacking light-colored topwater lures and medium diving crankbaits.
