The lake is full of fish

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake is full of fish. I reported a couple of weeks ago that they had planted 4,000 rainbows. Well, since then, the NDOW has planted another 5,000 rainbows. Shore anglers have done well with inflated nightcrawlers or a long leader and PowerBait. Trollers have been doing well with Thomas Buoyant spoons (with a snap swivel), or the old-fashioned way with small blades and a

Jakes Creek Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
As weeds take over the shorelines, anglers should access the middle of the reservoir with kayaks, float-tubes, etc. for better opportunity. Bass fishing has been good with fish in the 11-13 inch range being caught. Try soft plastics in darker colors with a little sparkle. Catfishing has been fair, with just a few fish in the 3-5 pound range being caught. Fishing for trout has slowed

Fishing is still fair to good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing is still fair to good in the collection ditch for rainbow trout and tiger trout, with a few brown trout also being picked up. Fly anglers are reporting success with trout on nymphs like the copper john and gold-ribbed hare’s ear. With temperatures warming up through July, try switching to dry fly patterns. Small, flashy spinners like Panther Martins are the go-to for spin

Surface water temps measuring 72 degrees

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Surface water temps measuring 72 degrees. Rainbow trout, brown trout, wiper, channel catfish and bluegill have all been stocked this spring. With the warmer weather, trout action is tapering off by mid-morning. In the early morning, try to match the insects that trout are rising for. Experiment with nymphs under and indicator or switch to your favorite dry fly pattern. As the day warms, fish

Shoreline fishing will be very difficult with the dense aquatic vegetation around the shoreline

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Tonkin Reservoir is still accessible for float tube and kayak anglers but shoreline fishing will be very difficult with the dense aquatic vegetation around the shoreline. If anglers do visit Tonkin Reservoir they are encouraged to exercise care when fishing and handling fish due to the higher water temperatures. Special Regulations: Artificial lures only. The ranch is still fishing well

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is still fishing well with good reports coming in during the mornings and evenings just like the California side. Much of the same patterns are working on the ranch, the only thing I might add would be some Pat's rubber legs.

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
Here are a couple of our younger anglers with a super nice largemouth bass! This fish was landed while fishing from shore. Nick Navarrette and Mason Lucchino caught this beautiful bass using a spinnerbait. The fish weighed an impressive 6.20 pounds and measured 24½ inches long. It was a little disappointing that they didn't know to release it, but I took the opportunity to explain that

The fishing has been slow and most of the stripers caught have been on the smaller size

by ARIZONA GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT
The fishing has been slow and most of the stripers caught have been on the smaller size. Anglers may still be able to get lucky catching bigger stripers, and it’s reported that using trout imitation baits can help. The rainbow trout are still going strong for those fishing on or shortly after each Thursday that they are stocked. Anglers are using worms, PowerBait, and spinners

The fishing has slowed down on the lake

by ARIZONA GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT
The fishing has slowed down on the lake. The anglers that are having the most success are going out early in the morning before sunrise to fish topwater for largemouth, smallmouth, and striped bass. Many smaller stripers in the 1- to 2-pound range are being caught. Trolling using a buck-tailed jig or swimbaits in a trout pattern has also been good to anglers looking for

Anglers have reported success catching largemouth, smallmouth, and striped bass on the lake

by ARIZONA GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT
Anglers have reported success catching largemouth, smallmouth, and striped bass on the lake. Anglers have reported success using reaction baits, crank baits, and flukes in a shad pattern. For any fishing done later in the middle

The striper bite has been reported to be slow below the Davis Dam

by ARIZONA GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT
The striper bite has been reported to be slow below the Davis Dam, and most of the stripers caught have been smaller in size. Anglers have had some success using anchovies, but location is going to be the most important factor in catching a fish. Before sunrise, try fishing shallower water and go deeper as it gets warmer. Look for spots with shade, where stripers

The Truckee River has seen stable flows but rising water temps this week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The Truckee River has seen stable flows but rising water temps this week. Anyone looking to fish the T should do so in the morning hours. How late in the day you can fish will depend on the section of river, with the Glenshire area warming quicker than down in the canyon, due to the Little Truckee confluence providing a bit of cold water relief.
