Stampede Reservoir continues to improve as summer conditions settle in and water temperatures stabilize in the mid to high 50s. Kokanee fishing is in full swing, with fish becoming increasingly aggressive and responding well to pink and orange hoochies trolled behind dodgers. Most kokanee are currently averaging 8 to 10 inches in length but should continue growing throughout the summer, making Stampede one of the area's most promising kokanee fisheries heading into the warmer months. The most productive areas to find Kokanee remain near the Sagehen and Little Truckee inlets. Rainbow trout anglers trolling Rapalas are also finding steady action, while shore anglers are catching fish on spinners, worms, and PowerBait.
