Spooner Has Been Good From Shore and Good From Float Tubes or Boats

Mackinaw Fishing Has Been Good

The mackinaw fishing has been good to fair for angler fishing the north shore shelves of Carnelian Point. The rock pile off Logan Shoals has been productive. The boat inspection stations are open in Meyers and At the highway 28 and highway 50 intersection at Spooner summit. Check the website to get hours of operation.

First Stocking of 2021 Season

Our first two stockings of the 2021 season in Lake Tahoe are complete! This week we stocked 5,083 10 inch Pilot Peak Lahontan Cutthroat Trout on the Nevada side. To monitor and evaluate Pilot Peak LCT growth, survival, and movement around the Lake, 30% of those trout were FLOY tagged with a unique ID and phone number so that anglers can report their catch and

The weather has been such a roller coaster ride this spring. Today near freezing after last 4 days of heavy wind. One week we have snow and wind then next record highs 80-86 then followed by more wind then cold.   I’m ready for some stability in weather.   Good news is we’re finding biters each day.

Water Levels Has Been Going Down

The lake water level has been going down for awhile, but has started to rise over the last few days. The fishing has been fair for shore anglers. Most have been using powerbait or inflated nightcrawlers. trollers have had best success with flashers and a night crawler going a little deeper water.

10.25 lb. German Brown

  Few weeks back we boated one of two huge hookups we had mixed in our regular fish.   10.25 lb German Brown. Something we do here in Tahoe is use live bait! Both trolled and drifted and the Redsides, Chubs and Suckers can be downright deadly. We have had tremendous success drifting and bridling trolled chubs!

Sand Harbor & Cave Rock Boat Ramps Open May 1st

Fishing Has Been Good Along The Ledges

 Fishing has been good for anglers fishing the ledges off Tahoe City or the deeper water near Cal/Neva point. Right now only Tahoe sealed boats will be allowed to launch at Tahoe. The boat inspection stations are scheduled to open on May 1st in Meyers and at the intersection of highway 50 and 28.

The water level is still low. Fishing has been fair to good for trollers. Flashers with a night crawler or a dick slammer have been productive. Rapalas have also been productive, best patterns have been blk/gold or a perch. Shore anglers have been doing fair with green or yellow powerbait. Inflated nightcrawlers have also been successful. The Douglas county boat ramp is open for launching.
