Truckee River Fishing Report-7-28-19

by MATT KOLES
This is not the Bighorn. That was a bumper sticker I saw, sums it up almost perfectly for the Truckee River. Took a few folks out this week that asked, is the whole river this rocky and gnarly? Yep, pretty much. I can’t take the boulders out, or make it any easier to wade. I can get you fish if you can move around in the river.

Kokanee Fishing on Lake Tahoe Today

by MIKE NIELSEN
Did a south shore Kokanee haul today. Easy to get but I’m not much of Kokanee fishermen. I love jigging for them but when no matter what size they are you know that each one will Essentially be the same I get to wanting something else. Miss the childhood days of 2-4 lbers or like 2013 and 2014 when we had some 3-5 lb 18-24

On-the-Water Report | Truckee River | Late July 2019

by RENO FLY SHOP
Early in the day is the name of the game on the Truckee River for trout. Water temps are creeping up towards 68F in the afternoon but dropping overnight. The afternoons are a great time to give the trout a break when the temps rise and a chance to chase warm water species, like our local bass and carp. Swing by the shop and we can

Cushed The Lake Trout Today

by MIKE NIELSEN
Team Soto crushed it with Tyler my son as deckhand. Limits plus and Tyler got in on it when we had triple hookups!

Truckee River Fishing Report-7-21-19

by MATT KOLES
Sliding right through summer on the Truckee River. Fishing has been good in the morning. Shitty in the afternoons. Good at dark again. That’s the pattern right now. Forecast is for things to heat up next week. 100’s in the valley, and I’m betting 90’s in the Hirsch. No, I will not take you out in the afternoon until it cools. If you want a death

Great Day On Lake Tahoe

Fish Spawning Project Provides Nevada Waters with Trout

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Every summer NDOW staff and volunteers head to western Nevada's beautiful Marlette Lake for the annual Marlette Lake Broodstock Spawning Project. The eggs we get from this project provide our fish hatcheries with most of the trout we stock in waters across the state. In this week's Nevada Wild, NDOW's Ashley Sanchez and Aaron Keller sit down with Native Aquatic Staff Specialist Chris Crookshanks and Western Region

Flows Steadily Dropping

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
With flows steadily dropping in the upper river the lower river (Glenshire Dr. to Stateline) is now fishing best. Great hatches coming off throughout the day with the most predictable of these being caddis in the late evening. Expect PMD’s mid-morning, Yellow Sallies mid-day, the occasional Golden Stone and a variety of terrestrials including Grasshoppers and Ants. Nymphing the deep runs has still been the

Shore Anglers Doing Well on South End

by DOUG BUSEY
The water level is up a little and the fishing is doing good in the morning and tapering off as the day warms. Flashers and a night crawler or Rapalas have had best success. As the day progresses, you need to get your presentation deeper. The shore angler shave been doing well on the south end of the lake with powerbait and floating night crawlers.

Carson River Nevada Side Report

by DOUG BUSEY
The NDOW planted the upper part of the river by Ruenstrough bridge with rainbows and good sized brown trout last week. They planted the Carson City area with rainbows this week. David and Karen Fuentes from Carson City had good success last weekend near the broken dam area.

Took a couple of hours today but still got limits plus! Kept what we liked!

Truckee River Fly Report Late July

by RENO FLY SHOP
Truckee River  Through the downtown gauge, the Truckee River has been holding steady around 450 CFS.  This is perfect flows in my opinion. Wading is easier, and the river really starts to show off its details as the water level settles into the deeper channels of the channel. Pocket water, and shallow riffled water will hold feeding fish, as fish who are resting will seek out

Summer Mode on The Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Nice in the a.m., windy and hot in the afternoons. Good again right before dark. Pretty much like this every summer. Flows are average now, fishing is too. Best thing to do is tight line nymph the fast pocked water. Fish are all over, spread out. Cover some water and you’ll put some trouts in the net. Like I say this time of year, the folks
