Fishing Continues To Improve

Fishing has slowed down some with the extreme heat but will pick up fall creeps in. Fishing will just continue to improve with good water conditions and the fall temperatures. Spin Fisherman are finding that Rapala minnow imitations are working well in addition to larger brightly colored jigs. Water Level Has Gone Down

The water level has gone down a couple more feet. Fishing has been slow for both shore and boat anglers over the last week. The last day to fish this year will be Monday the 30th. The lake will then open for the 2020 season on January 1st.

The Opener Will Be Soon

The opener will soon be upon us! Lake levels are very high, and according to the pyramid lake fisheries Facebook page surface temps have dropped below 70 already, and with the colder storms this week they have been at 66! Tui-chub schools are all over the lake from north to south. Conditions are promising for an amazing opener and season! If you aren’t getting excited yet.

Truckee Flowing Around 350 to 400 CFS

The Truckee River is flowing around 350 to 400 CFS with some spikes due to recent storms. Water temps have dropped dramatically with cooler overnight temperatures. Fishing has been good, with a few slower days when the weather and air temperatures drop suddenly. Brown trout are getting into their pre-spawn agitation and are very territorial right now. Streamers have been moving these aggressive fish several feet.

I guess if you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes. Ballistic hot over the weekend, snowing in the Hirsch today. Thought I was going to pass out from heat stroke on Friday, no wind, out in the sun all day. Shitty fishing. Sometimes the trouts don’t want to be on our schedule. Can’t blame them to be honest.
