Pyramid Lake is Fishing Okay

by RENO FLY SHOP
Pyramid Lake is fishing okay. With the LCT in full spawn it can be tough to see so many fish and not have them all willing to eat. Try casting beyond the cruising fish to pick the trout that are more willing to take a fl

Truckee is Fishing Well

by RENO FLY SHOP
The Truckee River is high but fishing well. Focus on the edges and seams near the sides of channel. These will be most productive using Stoneflies, Worm patterns and attractor nymphs.

Big Flows and Sunshine

Finally some spring weather on the Truckee River. Big flows and sunshine, well, except for the last couple days on the sunshine. Spring has sprung. Flows are up around 3,700 k here in the Hirsch, higher as you go downriver. Big pumping flows. Much like back in spring of ’17. We still have a lot of snow to melt. Get used to it. Don’t think you’re gonna

Mackinaw FIshing Has Been Great

by DOUG BUSEY
The fishing on Lake Tahoe is awesome. The Ramp at Cave Rock Boat Launch is clear of snow. Always be careful of icy conditions on the ramp as some do not drain out the water of the boat trailers before pulling up. The fishing for limits of Mackinaw Lake Trout has been very good to " GREAT " !! Quality Fish are being netted from

Big Spring Flows on The Truckee River

After Mondays storm, high pressure looks to build in for the remainder of the month and we should have some nice weather. Been a lot of wind, rain, and snow. Yes, flows are big. They will stay big. They’ve been pretty steady at about 3,700 k here in the Hirsch. Clarity is actually really good. We’re having a good slow melt. We’ve been getting them. Not big

Pyramid Lake Early April Report

by RENO FLY SHOP
Pyramid Lake has been fishing very well! Fish are coming in shallow to spawn. If you have not read our article on when to use a ladder? This is a perfect time to read that piece. This is the time of year where fish will be easily visible from shore and cruising in 3-5 feet of water depth. The Lahontan Cutthroat Trout, being the apex

Truckee River Early April Report

by RENO FLY SHOP
Run off is in full swing! We’re seeing the Reno gauge around 4,000 cfs and jumping up to 5,000 cfs at times. The water is a little off color because of these flow changes, but not enough to deter one from fishing. High water will be around for the next few weeks until our giant snowpack begins to melt. Fishing high water can be equal

Gilligan's Fly Report Early April

by MATT KOLES
Had a great clinic this weekend on the Truckee River. Other than that, not too much difference since a week ago. Flows have gone up to almost 3000k here in Hirschdale with more releases from Boca. We really aren’t getting the big runoff yet, but a slow good melt. We’ll get that soon enough. For now enjoy these flows while they last. Clarity ain’t bad either. So good

Fishing Has Been Pretty Good

by JIM REID
The East is running at 302 right now, the fishing has been pretty good for some anglers and not so good for others. This flow is definitely a bit tougher to fish than when it’s at lower flows, it requires more weight to get your bugs down to the bottom and larger indicators to carry that weight, think “steelhead fishing”. Anglers who are making all the
