20 pounder wins Pyramid Derby

Derby winner was a 20.88 pounder caught on the first weekend of the derby. Last weekend 18 cutts weighing between 13 and 19 pounds were caught. Good spots included the Nets, Popcorn and Blockhouse. Pyramid Derby producing monster cutts

Four 20 pound cutthroats were caught last weekend during the opening of the President's Day Derby, three were caught from the shore. The Nets, Sand Hole were two of the spots. Captain Mickey Daniels called in to report beautiful weather this morning. It looks like a school of smaller fish have moved in. We tagged a couple fish under 2 pounds. And today our biggest fish was almost 6 pounds. The fish are being caught in 400 to 420 feet of water. We had three going at once today!

Biggest fish this week was a 22.15 pound cutthroat caught with a fly at the nets. A half-dozen 10-pound plus cutts have been caught since Sunday from a variety of spots. No single hot spot. Lake Tahoe Lake Trout Update

Captain Mickey Daniels called in today with an update from Lake Tahoe. Today we started fishing in shallow water between 150 and 180 and we had a couple bites but caught nothing. Then we started fishing in 400 feet of water they they were biting good. We ended up with 6 or 7 seven fish in the 4 to 5 pound range.

7 Fish up to 7 pounds

Captain Mickey Daniels called in with an audio report with the fishing conditions at Lake Tahoe. Today we caught 7 Lake Trout up to 7 pounds. The 7 pounder we tagged and released back into the lake. The fish are a little deeper so if the wind conditions are mld the fishing should be very good this week.

Boaters are out-producing shore anglers. The stretch between Pelican and Monument is best. Some boats get 30 to 40 fish, but none of great size. There also is action on the south end of the lake.
