7,500 3.5inch Brown Trout

by LIZ WEIRAUCH
We’ve waited to post these pics of stocking 7,500 3.5” brown trout in the east Carson, as ‘high’ as possible in Nevada.. ( our biologist wanted to see if it worked)     It DID! It was FABULOUS ! I think we only lost between 20-25 little ones out of that 7500.     Our kidneys got rocked on that road, but it’s been a work in progress of 3 +

Hobert Reservoir is fishing very well

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The Ash Canyon road will be open in time for the Memorial Day holiday and Hobert Reservoir is fishing very well. An early morning midge hatch should be followed by a mid morning Callibaetis mayfly hatch until the winds pick up. Damsels and small leech patterns retrieved on floating or slow sinking lines are always a good choice early in the season. Ants along the

Lake Wind Advisory

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
There is a Lake Wind Advisory in effect today on Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Lake from 11 am this morning until 11 pm tonight. The National Weather Service estimates 15-25 mph winds with gusts of 35 to 40 mph. Waves are expected to be between 1 to 3 feet on Pyramid and up to 4 feet on Lake Tahoe. Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards

As of May 27, the South Fork of the Humboldt was flowing at 200 cfs

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Stream flows are showing mixed results with some up and some down compared to last week in northeastern Nevada but are still well below normal. Those basins with more snow will see increases in flows next week with the warmer weather but as you head south, they may drop off due to lack of snowpack. In White Pine County, most streams have changed little and

The calm before the storm

by HANS MOXLEY

The Truckee river is flowing around 900 cfs through the downtown gauge

by RENO FLY SHOP
The Truckee river is flowing around 900 cfs through the downtown gauge. This is good for extending our summer fishing season and keeping flows we are hoping into August. It does make fishing a little difficult as there is more water in the river and more room for the fish to hide. We suggest that one should cover water effectively and methodically and assume the

The warm weather kicked the river into action

by MATT KOLES
Summer weather on the Truckee River. We look to have some cooling for the weekend, and back to the 70’s next week. Perfect weather. We’re having a good week. The warm weather kicked the river into acton and put water temps in the 50’s. 50’s is perfect. That kicks trout into high gear. 52-62, is what you’re looking for. We should stay in that temp frame

Spring runoff + off color water + overcast weather = great streamer fishing!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Spring runoff + off color water + overcast weather = great streamer fishing! Yep, I’m calling it, this weekend should make for excellent conditions for chucking meat as we are seeing all of the right criteria: cold windy days, overcast weather, high water with slight turbidity and good water temps. There are multiple ways to throw streamers and not necessarily any wrong way to do

Perfect Day at Tahoe

by HANS MOXLEY

Stocking some 3.5” baby browns in the East Carson

by ANGLER'S EDGE FLY SHOP
Tomorrow afternoon, after this shop working almost 3 years with NDOW ( some might call it badgering LOL) and Carson Valley ATV group (Grest Group!) we are finally going to be stocking some 3.5” baby browns in the East Carson near the inlet to Bryant creek! Our biologist of the area years ago would take his own vehicle down that nasty road and put these little

Sunny solid weather, and healthy flows here on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Sunny solid weather, and healthy flows here on the Truckee River. Good Spring weather, cold mornings, and warm afternoons. Good big flows, all up and down the river. Just a great time to be out. Flows are right below 900 cubes here in the Hirsch, and higher as you go down the river. 900 is high, but good. We have water coming out of Lake Tahoe too,

Spring has finally sprung on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Spring has finally sprung on the Truckee River. Cold and wind for all of April, and now, well, prefect weather. Finally. We did good in April, and made up a lot for our dismal, Jan-March, lack of snow. Most of the lakes and res., are pretty full. Good, good fishing for the Truckee River Fly Fishing Report. Hard to beat weather in the 70’s, and a nice

Limits This Morning

by HANS MOXLEY
It was a decent bite this morning, not the greatest but we ended up with our limits. Great job guys !!!!

Small and largemouth bass fishing continued to improve

by CHAD BURTON AND CHRIS BORDEN
The lake held at 90 percent of capacity with water temperatures the mid-sixties. Small and largemouth bass fishing continued to improve, and the bite could really take off soon. Bass are spawning, and anglers used Senkos, Texas rigs, and jigs to fool fish. Small shad-colored swimbaits and jerkbaits worked for bites in the mornings. Striper anglers fed sardines, anchovies, and nightcrawlers to the jailbirds in
