As of May 13, the South Fork of the Humboldt was flowing at 50 cfs

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Stream flows have increased just a bit over the past week with the precipitation and snowmelt though they are still well below the median for this time of year. With the warmer weather expect flows to continue to increase. The beaver dams where the river enters into South Fork Resservoir have been removed and a few rainbows have moved into the river attempt to spawn.

Topaz Lake Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Many of us have heard of the tragic accident, when a boat capsized on the lake last weekend. I cannot stress the importance of safety and life jackets while out on any body of water. Remember that this time of year. The outside temperatures may be in the 70's or 80's. But the water temperature was 47 degrees on my last trip to the lake.

The bite at Pyramid continues to be a little spotty this week with mixed reports of varied success

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The bite at Pyramid continues to be a little spotty this week with mixed reports of varied success. It appears to be mostly a stripping game at the moment and using a type 3 sinking line with buggers, boobies and beetles on beaches with a gradual drop off seems the most consistent. As we come into the tail end of the season out here the

We are starting to see a good mix of spring hatches happen

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Right now the Truckee is still holding at around 1,000 CFS in the canyon section but the big change has come upstream along Glenshire Drive where flows have gone up to around 750 CFS thanks to heavy run off in the upstream creeks, primarily Donner Creek which is flowing at around 300 CFS near the confluence of the Truckee. This has added some turbidity to

by MATT KOLES

Windy, but nice weather this week for the Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

by MATT KOLES
Windy, but nice weather this week for the Truckee River Fly Fishing Report. Always windy in the spring, but man, the weather has been about perfect. Nice big flows and some fat fish. People always ask me, when’s my favorite time, well, Spring is hard to beat. Of course, you can get skunked anytime of year on this river, but when the trees are all budding

Pyramid Lake has seen a reboot in fishing success this week

by RENO FLY SHOP
Pyramid Lake has seen a reboot in fishing success this week. The post spawn bite has started and will conclude the big push of the annual spring spawn. Big LCT are hungry after not feeding the last few weeks and are eager to chase flies. Streamer fishing has been most productive at a growing number of beaches. Using flies like Jan’s Tui Chub or bigger

Following the spring storm this past week, the Truckee boasted some great fishing throughout multiple sections

by RENO FLY SHOP
Following the spring storm this past week, the Truckee boasted some great fishing throughout multiple sections. We saw warmer days following the storm which resulted in increased feeding activity. Here in Reno, flows have hovered between 800-950cfs. While flows are higher than they’ve been in the past few months, the spring flows we are experiencing now are still very fishable and yielding impressive results. If

Late April Fish Report- Pyramid Lake

by BEARFISH ALLIANCE STAFF
Holy Smokes, we had a run of what seemed like endless weather events in northern Nevada that made the fishing tough at the Mid for a while, but nevertheless when that window of opportunity opened it would turn on for the anglers.  The fish are on the tail end of the spawn, so look to shift your techniques accordingly. Right now we are having good luck

Striper and bass have been biting more frequently throughout the lake

by PYRAMID LAKE STAFF
Striper and bass have been biting more frequently throughout the lake on various baits both from the shoreline and from boats. Soft plastics like smaller paddle tail baits on lead heads have been working well for stripers along with kastmasters and jerk baits. Sardines, anchovies, and lugworms have also been working well to come across the stripers throughout the day down deep, anywhere up to

Lahontan Reservoir Fishing Report

Wiper/ White Bass: These fish are becoming more catchable. Most are reported in the narrows near the Dam. A 22 pounder was recently caught! Try white or shiny lures. Catfish: Starting to pop up in deeper waters. Try getting near the dam with cut bait and worms. Walleye: No Report Carp: Out in full force! They put up a good fight and are easy to catch. Try corn

Very mixed reports from the Nevada side of the river lately

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The East is running at about 35cfs right now. We’ve had some very mixed reports from the Nevada side of the river lately, some anglers are reporting really good days with 15+ fish caught per day while other anglers are reporting much slower days with only 1 or 2 fish caught per day. The successful anglers we’ve spoken with have been doing the best with
