21 Pounds to The Net!

by PYRAMID LAKE GUIDES
This beast was fun to catch! The lake is fishing well, lots of bigs coming into shore.

Action at The lake Have Increased

by RENO FLY SHOP
The action at the lake has increased as the trout are getting comfortable in depths less than 15 feet. Retrieving flies has still been the most productive, but midges and balanced leeches under the indicator are producing at times. Morning and evening bite, in low light conditions, has been best. The Cat Whisker and Deadpool Booby Fly have been very effective. Followed closely by the Midnight

Fish Have Acclimated To Winter Water Temps

by RENO FLY SHOP
The river has come up to a bit over 225 cfs through the downtown gauge and the temperatures are fluctuating from the high 30s to the mid 40s. The fish have acclimated to these wintery water temperatures and are starting to feeding midday as the water warms. Smaller nymphs under an indicator or European style nymphing has worked well. We’ve been using #18s-#20s with an

Sometimes We Get Lucky, But Always Have Fun!

by PYRAMID FLY CO.
Sometimes one needs to improvise. In the beginning of this tussle the fly line wrapped around the reel. Shortly after she decided to take a long quick run after seeing the shallows, as these fish often do. Pulling the fly line out and around the reel a funky “pop” was heard in the line. With not much time to do anything other than let the

Cutthroat Bite is Picking Up

by RENO FLY FISHING OUTFITTERS
It has been hard to keep up with the action from our guide staff the last couple of days. Mike, Chris and Ryan had their hands full releasing fish from several different beaches. Pyramid Lake Fly Fishing guides are on fire right now and our business partners (the fish) are cooperating fully. Monday was pretty normal for most of us but for these lucky clients,

Set on Everything!

by PYRAMID FLY CO.
When indicator fishing dont always expect the bobber to suck under 3 feet. Especially in the choppy water. If that bobber looks suspect and does something odd more than likely it’s a fish. Sometimes the grabs are subtle, with a big fish on the end gracefully sucking up those bugs. Set on everything!

Winter Fishing on The Truckee

by MATT KOLES
Some snow and rain last week for the Truckee River. Things are back to normal now. Cold lower winter flows on the river. Winter fishing. Trouts are in the slower froggy water. Not always the easiest getting them to eat, but when you do, they’re usually good/bigger type fish. Not a lot of bugs, but give it about a month, and we’ll start seeing some strong bwo

Getting After Those Cutthroat!

by PYRAMID FLY CO.
It’s hard to find someone as determined as Jake. Sun up to sun down. He is stoked and getting after it non stop! He comes out to fish with us quite often and his persistence pays off time and time again.     We have dates available and guides ready. Give us a call, email or dm. +1 (877) 732-3597

Fishing at The Lake Has Been Good, But Has Lacked Consistency

by RENO FLY SHOP
The lake has opened and we are booking guided trips for the season! Fishing at the lake has been good, but has lacked consistency. We are finding fish during the early mornings or late afternoons most consistently. Retrieving files has been the most productive with the booby and streamer combos (Midnight Cowboy or Jan’s Tui Chub), but we have gotten a few takedowns on the

Truckee River Fishing Report

by RENO FLY SHOP
Truckee River The Truckee River has changed a lot since the last report. Flows are down to 220 CFS at the downtown gauge and water temps are starting the day in the high 30s. The trout have acclimated to this change and the fishing has been good. You may need to change your tactics as low cold water will push the fish into slower water. The

West Side of The Lake is Fishing The Best

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Pyramid Lake is now open. Permits are only available online or at the kiosks at the ranger station. They are $24 per day. The best fishing currently is Popcorn Rock, Cattleguard, Pelican Point, Warrior Point and other areas on the west side of the Lake. Anglers are doing well stripping flies in the morning and then switching to an indicator with a white or black

Truckee River Report

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
The Upper Truckee River is currently closed for fishing from Tahoe City to Trout Creek. Anglers fishing in the Glenshire area should focus on using dry flies such as blue winged olives or midges. Anglers fishing below Glenshire and Boca should use crawdads, small nymphs, and there may be some blue winged olive activity, depending on the temperature in the afternoons. FLOWS: Tahoe City 75 CFS,

Bite is Picking Up!

by PYRAMID FLY CO.
The bite is picking up, and the fish are hot to trot! Brock with a red hot hen!

Days Like Today Are The Ones That Stick With You

by PYRAMID FLY CO.
Today we got to witness a very special moment for this young man. Tanner @tjfox_28 and his father have been coming out to fish the lake with Casey for a few years now. This time it all came together in the bottom of the ninth. The fish he’s been looking for all these years finally stuck. A very special moment for all. We got to

Big Changes on The Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Big changes on the Truckee River. Pretty much went from summer into winter in about 2 days. We got a little bit of snow, and are struggling to get out of the 20’s. Light cold snow. Good news is the storm door looks open. They should be warmer storms, with more moisture and higher snow levels. Look for flows to come up. The best winter fishing
