Very low water and very few fish survival after the winter.  If water levels reach a suitable level within a month, trout will be stocked.

The east side boat dock is back in the water and the ramp is open for the season. Anglers are seeing plenty of trout action near the dam. Mid-morning through early afternoon is best for trout fishing, with reports of fish up to 5 lbs. Balanced leeches and woolly buggers are the go-to flies for fly anglers. Orange PowerBait or worms floated off the bottom

Some unsafe ice reported at the boat ramp and parts of the collection ditch. Harrison Pass is expected to be impassable after this week’s storms, Secret Pass is recommended. Anglers fishing the collection ditch are reporting fair to good angling for trout, with fish over 20 inches being reported. Fly anglers are reporting success with streamers, leeches and nymphs. Small, flashy spinners like Panther Martins

The reservoir is still in a state of some open water and some thin, soft, and unsafe ice. We do not recommend venturing on to any ice at this time, even in the Hendricks and Penrod Arms. On 2/2/26 State Park staff measured 7″-8″ of ice accessed from the boat ramp. Ice thickness is variable across the reservoir, measuring between 4″ and 6″ in other areas surveyed, with some areas of thinner ice. Always take caution and drill test holes. The lake is entirely covered with ice. The ice on the southeast end of the lake is sitting at 6 to 7 inches.  The ice was not tested in the middle of the lake straight out from the large day-use cove and to the dam. Based on observation the ice quality in this area is poor and anglers should avoid it.  Anglers should always use

Approximately 50% of the reservoir is covered with a thin layer of ice. The southern half of the reservoir has open water and should be conducive to shoreline angling. Anglers could use nightcrawlers and spinners to catch trout this winter. The fishery is recovering after significant drawdown events.

The north lake is covered in 2.5 to 3.5 inches of ice. The ice quality on the north lake is poor and anglers should avoid this area. Moving through the narrows and into the south lake the ice is 5 to 8 inches thick. The ice quality in these areas is good and should provide good fishing. On the south end, near the float tube

The reservoir lost ice since last week, but is still mostly covered in ice. The area north of the old dam is a mix of 4- to 7-inch-thick ice.  The quality of ice in this area was deemed good and should provide with good fishing to anglers. The ice that was firm black ice two weeks ago is now soft and fair to poor quality.
