Striped bass are biting anchovies along the beaches near Hemenway. Anglers are averaging five fish a day and are reporting more bites when fishing anchovies just off the bottom in the evening. In the Overton Arm, anglers have had success with swimbaits in 30 to 50 feet of water. The black bass bite is on and off with the recent winds and low overnight temperatures.

Swimbaits and Glide Baits in trout patterns are producing striped bass catches along the river. One lucky angler landed a 17-pound striper below Big Bend State Recreation Area using his favorite swimbait. Rainbow trout are most active in the mornings and afternoons. The fish are looking for pink and orange PowerBait, mice tails, or worms fished in the shadows.
