Trout Bite good, Bass slow.

Comins lake is ice free. So far fishing has been good this spring with 16-to-20-inch Rainbow Trout being caught. The water is sitting in the 40s so the Largemouth Bass in the lake are still lethargic. Anglers will do well on nightcrawlers, a variety of spinners, wet flies behind a bubble, and even PowerBait. Minnow imitations and large streamer patterns have been working for northern pike,

Lots of Open Water

Illipah Reservoir

The ice is coming off the lake with lots of open water for fishing. With warmer temperatures around the corner, the rest of the ice could come off quickly. The reservoir is sitting at approximately 90% of capacity. Anglers can access the reservoir from the west and fish the entire western shoreline. Colorado River - Davis Dam

I am sad to say our trout plants are pretty much done for the season and should resume in October. The Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery has been providing rainbow trout to our area. These fish have been raised by the staff at the hatchery and brought to us here below the Davis Dam and stocked in the Colorado River. These trout are for anglers

Trout fishing is good across the reservoirs, though the action at Dacey and Adams-McGill is sluggish. Anglers are using PowerBait, spinners, and flies. Anglers fishing Haymeadow are catching trout using spinners and plastic worms.

Tigers And Rainbows Abound

The Nevada Department of Wildlife planted trout last week. Tigers and rainbow trout are hitting the line from shore and boat. Bait anglers are using worms with marshmallows. Fly-fishers are catching fish with tan and olive Woolly Buggers. Spin-fishers found success using Mepp’s lures with red, white, or yellow spots.

Colorado River - Laughlin

The Laughlin Lagoon remains the hotspot for black bass catches. Anglers are reporting bites on a variety of jerkbaits, trout swimbaits, and softs plastics. Striper activity is also picking up with the warmer weather. Most fish are between 1-3 pounds, but one lucky angler caught a 25-pounder along Casino Row. Anchovies are the bait of choice for stripers of all sizes.

Good Rainbow fishing

Lake Mohave

Rainbow trout between 2-3 pounds are taking spinners from kayak anglers south of Willow Beach. Anglers targeting striped bass are reeling in fish weighing more than 10 pounds on shad and trout-pattern lures from the boat. Lake Mohave boaters are enjoying the increase in black bass activity near their beds. Craws and worms in purple, red, and green are tempting fish up to 4 pounds.

Channel catfish are active and biting chicken liver and night crawlers fished a few inches off the bottom. Seasonal trout plants have ended due to warm water temperatures. Sunset Park is having water pump issues and cannot receive fish until it is fixed. Bluegill are hitting mealworms off the bottom. Plastics and spinnerbaits are enticing bass at Floyd Lamb Park.

Black Bass action heats up

Anglers are seeing more success with black bass as air temperatures hit the mid-80s. Soft plastics fished near spawning grounds are producing great fish in the Boulder Basin. Stripers are taking anchovies from shore anglers in the Las Vegas Bay. Live bait is working well for boaters trolling between 40-60 feet. The bite is reportedly best in the late afternoon and overnight.
