Nevada Fish Reports

Striped bass anglers are still netting shad near Hemenway. Those unable to fish with live bait are reporting success at Callville Bay and Kingman Wash with a variety of crankbaits and soft swimbaits in shad patterns. The lake is iced over with unsafe ice, except where the aerator is. Due to the aerator and the size of the lake, ice is generally never safe for ice fishing.  The water level is very low so pray for a good winter to fill this reservoir up. 

The collection ditch was mostly ice free as of December 23.  Fishing has been good for 10 to 16-inch trout at the collection ditch which was stocked with approximately 7,000 trout in October.  Anglers report catching fish averaging about two pounds at the collection ditch using balanced leeches.  Water level in the collection ditch has improved but it has been a bit turbid which is

While fishing for both perch and trout has been good, the ice hasn’t been so good.  Due to warmer daytime temperatures and sunny days this week, ice thickness decreased, especially off the state park access.  Thicknesses ranged from one to six inches and it is not recommended to go onto the ice off the state park at this time.   Ice in the Penrod and Hendricks

No recent report, but this lake often mimics South Fork so expect it to be covered in unsafe ice. The road is closed and the lake is ice covered.  There will be no fishing reports for this lake until late spring or early summer depending upon the winter.

With the warmer temperatures and the wind, the ice receded at Jet Ski Beach and there was a large are of open water for fishing there.  Fishing was fair to good depending upon time of day, with anglers doing best before 10:00 am.   If there is still open water there this weekend, the usual rainbow sparkle PowerBait fished off the bottom using a slip sinker

Cave Lake is sitting approximately 15 feet below normal water levels.  The lake is covered in unsafe ice.  Due to safety issues with the dam, water is being kept low and with fluctuating water levels, expect unsafe ice for much of the winter. 

The reservoir is currently sitting at approximately 40 to 50% of capacity, though it has come up a bit with the recent moisture, and is mostly ice free with shore access for fishing.  One angler reports fair fishing last week here using small dark emerger flies.  For bait anglers, the usual worms or PowerBait would be a good place to start as well as small

Comins is mostly covered with five to six inches of safe ice though there are some isolated spots that have open water and/or thin ice.  Please advance cautiously and drill a test hole or two in the area you want to fish.  Worms seem to work best through the ice though PowerBait can work as well.  Jigging with minnow imitations can also work.  Anglers please

Illipah is covered in unsafe ice.  Expect it to be unsafe until after New Years.

Ice is starting to form up again across the reservoir but is still only a couple inches deep. It remains too thin for ice fishing. There is still running water coming in at the north end. For up-to-date ice conditions contact Spring Valley State Park at 775-962-5102.

The shoreline is covered with thin ice throughout the day. Though the overnight temperatures are dropping well below freezing, the center of the lake varies from open water to thin ice depending on the time of day. For up-to-date ice conditions contact Echo Canyon State Park at 775-962-5103.

Striped bass averaging 2-pounds are taking anchovies fished from shore. For bigger fish, try using lures in rainbow trout patterns in the deeper water. PowerBait, spinners and worms are all working for rainbow trout. Some anglers are also reporting success with grubs in green, yellow, or pearl colors.

Reports of striped bass, rainbow trout and catfish catches are coming in from Willow Beach. Stripers are hitting swimbaits in shad and trout patterns in the deeper water. Spinners in yellow and red are working for rainbow trout. Catfish up to 5 pounds are taking anchovies off the bottom.

Lake Mohave anglers are reporting the best striped bass action just above Davis Dam. One angler reeled in a 13-pounder caught on anchovies.

Anglers are finding a good striper bite at all times of day and night. In the Boulder Basin the fish are taking soft swimbaits and live shad. Some anglers are also having luck using umbrella rigs.
