22-Pound Striper

by RUSTY
Well, it's been a little slow lately when it comes to anglers bringing in photos of their catches, so I decided to use an older picture of the twins with their impressive 22-pound striper. Mike and Mitch Jones were fishing the river when they landed this trophy-sized fish. This time of year, the striper bite can slow down a bit, and anglers have to work a

Best bet for success will be euro nymphing!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
As water temps continue to rise on the Truckee the dry fly bite has been a bit tougher this week. With the fish mostly holding in the fast moving sections of the Truckee, your best bet for success will be euro nymphing, focusing on the deeper pockets and riffles. The dry dropper fishing still remains a great option as well, with good numbers of fish

Pyramid Lake is currently full

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Pyramid Lake is currently full, and the boat launch remains open. Most anglers are finding the best success from float tubes, kayaks, or boats while fishing depths around 50 feet. Most fish are being caught using Pyramid-style jigs, Sierra Spoons, midges, balanced leeches, and various hookup baits. The fishing season will end here soon on June 30th.

Current Water Conditions Flows are measuring 248 CFS out of Tahoe City, 270 CFS through town of Truckee, 322 CFS through the Glenshire area, and 775 CFS near Farad. Water clarity is great. Wading conditions

Good fishing in the morning!

by MATT KOLES
Feeling the heat on the Truckee River. Mid 90's every afternoon in the Hirsch, with a shot at a thunderstorm or 2.  Good fishing if you get out in the mornings and can wade in the faster pocket water. Good luck if you can't. Probably be tough.  Flows are very good, and that's keeping water temps in the healthy range. 650, here in Hirschdale. And good news,

Very healthy wild trout!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The health of the wild trout in the Truckee River is about as good as we’ve ever seen thanks mostly to a series of good water years. This doesn’t mean that fishing on the Truckee will be easy, because it never is. It does mean that the quality and numbers are there and when we combine that with the excellent conditions on the river right

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
Our local angler and friend, Mike Merritt, recently landed a limit of striped bass. Fishing from an island and using anchovies as bait, Mike put together an impressive stringer of fish. These smaller-sized stripers are easy to clean and make excellent fish tacos, along with plenty of other great meals. There are many productive spots for striper fishing below Davis Dam on the Colorado River, and

Conditions have changed quickly

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The conditions have changed quickly here on the Truckee as the releases out of the reservoirs taper off and we see flows settle into their average range. In Glenshire, we are looking at 375 CFS this week, which is near perfect for this section of river, especially as water temps rise and the fish nose up into pocket water, of which there is an abundance

2.6-pound Bluegill

by RUSTY
Now that's a nice panfish! This beauty was brought in by local angler Patrick Pauli. I'm confident it's a bluegill, although it looks similar to the redear sunfish we see in our waters. Patrick was using a small spinner when he landed this impressive 2.6-pound bluegill, measuring 14 5/8 inches in length. It could even be a Nevada state record! He caught it in the Back

Summer is here on the Truckee!

by MATT KOLES
Summer is here on the Truckee River.  Flows have come down to just around normal. Around 650 cfs, here in Hirschdale. About the same all the way down river, and lower some up river. Lots of miles of Truckee River to fish right now. California, Nevada pick your poison.  This is when you look for middle slots, chutes, seams, etc. Trouts will push into the middle of
