What an incredible day at the 2026 Eagle Valley Resort Fishing Derby! We want to thank all 85 participants who came out and made this year's derby one of the best we've ever had! The Truckee was affected very little by this week’s weather in terms of increased flows. In fact, the flows out of Boca Reservoir dropped this week, bringing the Farad gauge down from 1,200 CFS, to around 800. My husband, Ryan, caught this carp at Sparks Marina today, and I wanted to share it with you.  The fish weighed 27.64 pounds. We thought this catch was noteworthy and worth reporting due to its impressive size.

We’re fortunate to have a great fishery here along the shores of the Colorado River. Anglers are enjoying excellent success both from shore and by boat, especially when targeting striped bass. Rye Patch Resevoir, located in Rye Patch State Recreation Area, has been placed under a HAB Watch Advisory due to a possible Harmful Algae Bloom. Visual assessments have indicated a possible bloom. Solid fishing all up and down the Truckee River.  Good flows just about everywhere on the river. Big still below Boca and down into Reno. Like, you may have a hard time wading at these flows. The ranch is still fishing very well for most of the anglers who've fished it this past week, as with the CA side it's mainly been nymphing with a few anglers doing well with streamers. The streamer action seems to be the best early in the day.

Check out this massive tiger trout camper Jadyn Brooks of Idaho caught on the 9th of May just off of the boat ramp at Wild Horse SRA.   This monster measured 27.5 inches long, weighed in at 9 pounds 3 oz, and is currently being investigated as a water record! Congrats again to Jadyn for the amazing catch!
