Fishing has been best up on the north end for mackinaws NEW

by DOUG BUSEY
Fishing has been best up on the north end for mackinaws around the McKinney Bay area or Dollar Point. Keep an eye on your depth finder. There are some sharp ledges up there, but that is what holds the fish in the area. A dodger and a live minnow in 150 to 200 feet of water has been the ticket. Some anglers have been doing well

Topaz Lake Fishing Report NEW

by DOUG BUSEY
I fished the lake this week. Started at 5:30 a.m. and ended at noon. I had plenty of hits and plenty of fish right up to the boat, but that's what we call a short-distance release. All of the fish were suspended in 8 to 15 feet of water. I used my lead line with an F5 Hot Steel pattern and an F7 jointed perch-colored Rapala. These two

Lots of weather changes

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Thanks to the abnormally cold weather last week, the Truckee has narrowly avoided any hoot owl restrictions as we head into July, the warm weather in this weeks forecast will likely change things quickly in this respect, so if fishing later in the week, be sure to focus on the mornings and consider bringing a thermometer with you if you want to extend you day

Weathers been really nice

4th of July weekend. Big weekend in Lake Tahoe, and on the Truckee River. Lots of folks in town. Just try to go Safeway in Truckee, I dare you.  Weathers been really nice. Not too hot at all. In fact cold in the mornings. That should change a bit this week, and we'll get back to more Summer /hotter weather. That should put trouts back into

Bass fishing is good, with fish hanging

South Fork Reservoir Fishing Report

Rainbow trout, brown trout, wiper, channel catfish and bluegill have all been stocked this spring. With the warmer weather, trout action is tapering off by mid-morning. In the early morning, try to match the insects that trout are rising for. Experiment with nymphs under and indicator or switch to your favorite dry fly pattern. As the day warms, fish retreat from the shallows into the

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
This is a great example of a successful catch-and-release fishing experience! Local angler Matt Felder was fishing from shore when he landed an impressive 43-inch striped bass. He had been targeting smaller stripers with anchovies and was catching fish in the 1- to 3-pound range. As I've mentioned before, fishing with anchovies usually produces the smaller stripers, which make excellent table fare. Every now and then,

Stocking has begun at Seeman Pond and fishing has been good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Stocking has begun at Seeman Pond and fishing has been good. Rainbow trout are caught primarily on salmon eggs and power bait on the bottom or under a bobber. Small wet flies and lures are also very effective on the pond. Pink floating power worms on a Carolina rig is pretty hard to beat at Seeman.

Onion has been fishing really well this summer

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Onion has been fishing really well this summer for a few carryover trout and the recently stocked trout. Small spinners and spoons from shore have been great in addition to power bait and crawlers off the bottom. Fly fisherman have done well using large dries early and late in the day. Small streamer flies have been effective when there’s no fish on the surface.

I had to dig this one up since the fishing has slowed down a bit. This was on the billboard at the end of town by the Laughlin Bridge. It's me holding a fish with Allen Cole, who was inducted into the Fishing Hall of Fame for his AC Plug and his outstanding fishing accomplishments. This is one of the larger stripers he landed, weighing

Marilyn’s Pond has been fishing very well but has also been busy

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Marilyn’s Pond has been fishing very well but has also been busy. Mid-week is definitely a better option if you’re looking for a little peace and quiet. Light leaders and tackle has been the key to success at the pond. Stocking will slow down a little as we really heat up but should still fish well through the summer heat.

Stocking continues through the summer at Bail

Great river conditions

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Overall, conditions on the river are great. The flows are right at average for this time of year, and so are water temps. As expected for this time of year, we have begun to see some sections of the river near hoot owl levels and with these rising water temps, we encourage anglers to really focus on the morning hours at this point. If fishing
