Lake Mohave/ Willow Beach Fishing Report

A few anglers have been rewarded with catfish while fishing after dusk at Willow Beach. Rainbow trout are biting on rainbow PowerBait, Rooster Tails and small spoons. One angler reported catching a 5-pound trout on pink eggs. Further south, anglers are catching 4- to 7-pound stripers on anchovies. Smallmouth bass are active near the shelves and largemouth bass are being found in shallow coves.

Las Vegas Urban Ponds Fishing Report

The Nevada Department of Wildlife stocked rainbow trout in Beatty and the Las Vegas area urban ponds last week. Plans call for an additional plant in the valley ponds next week. Cold Creek also is on the list. The fish have been biting on PowerBait, mealworms, and night crawlers, as well as small spinning lures and spoons. Lake Mead Fishing Report

Anglers are catching striped bass in the 2- to 4-pound range near Hemenway and Boulder Harbor. Fish are biting primarily on anchovies, but some anglers have reported success using PowerBait floating eggs and imitation shad swimbaits. Black bass action has been slow, but with warmer temperatures in the forecast anglers may find the fish biting in shallow coves.

Truckee River Fishing Report-1-21-20

Ice Conditions Are Questionable

Ice conditions are questionable. Recent weather activity dropped a lot of rain and snow, making for muddy roads and thin ice around the shorelines. The Nevada Department of Wildlife requests visitors to use extreme caution while visiting the area. No fishing reports were received this week.

Anglers Are Venturing onto the Ice

Anglers have been venturing onto the ice. The reservoir is covered by about is 8 to10 inches of ice. Anglers are finding success using night crawlers and PowerBait. NDOW is encouraging anglers to check weather conditions prior to making the trip and to always go prepared for weather changes. Black Bass Bite is Picking Up

The black bass bite is picking up. Some anglers are catching fish that weigh between three- and six-pounds using glide baits and topwater lures. Stripers as large as three pounds are biting on anchovies at the south end of the reservoir. At Willow Beach largemouth bass are hitting soft plastics and jigs in olive and watermelon colors. Rainbow trout plants are scheduled again this week, but are dependent on road conditions in northern Nevada. Stocked rainbows have been taking a variety of baits and small lures, such as rainbow-colored PowerBait, night crawlers, mealworms and mini marshmallows combined with a salmon egg. Spinning lures and spoons, such as Rooster Tails, Mepp’s, Super Dupers and Kastmasters have been catching fish.

The rainbow trout that are being provided by our local federal hatchery the Willow beach hatchery are hungry. Night crawlers are your go to bait and your favorite spinner are proving successful. Truckee River Fishing Report-1-13-20
