Pyramid is Fishing Pretty Good For Late October

The lake is fishing pretty good for late October. Usually there is a lull in the fishing after the first couple weeks of the season until the water cools in mid November. Everything seems to be happening early this fall. The shore fishing is already picking up and should be good until we start to see the water really cool down sometime in mid December.

C& R Tagged Cutthroat From Lake Tahoe

Aaron was fishing from the North Shore on Lake Tahoe the other morning and landed this tagged Cutthroat. It was 18.5 inches and around 1.5-2 pounds. The fish was released safely back into the water.

Angler Report: Wild Horse Reservoir

Cousins Amaya and Lauryn Drake with nice rainbow trout from Wildhorse Res. Caught 10-13-2019. Water temp was 49 degrees at 9 am and warmed up to 53 by 2 pm. Caught trolling Berkley Flicker shad minnow imitators down 8-12 feet. Fishing for trout and perch at Wildhorse Reservoir in Elko County is good right now from both shore and boat.

Rainbow Bite Continues To Be Good

The rainbow trout bite continues to be good throughout the area, with the fish taking a variety of lures and baits. Waterfowl hunters can double up on ducks and fish. Roads are in good condition and water levels are good.

Trout Have Been Hitting Well This Past Week

Rainbow, tiger, and brown trout have all been hitting well this past week. The Nevada Department of Wildlife recently stocked the reservoir with rainbows. Anglers are reporting good action with night crawlers, garlic PowerBait eggs, and Mepp’s spinners in both gold and silver. Temperatures are dropping into freezing range, making afternoons and evenings the most productive time of day.

Good Fishing For Rainbows Below Davis Dam

Anglers are finding good fishing for stocked rainbow trout below Davis Dam and through Casino Row. Mouse tails and spinners have been catching the fish. Stripers in the 1- to 3-pound range have been hitting anchovies and jointed Glide Baits. Black Bass are hanging around the aquatic vegetation below Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area.

Moderate Success For Stripers Across The Lake

Anglers are reporting moderate success for stripers across the lake. Both shore anglers and boaters are finding success with anchovies fished just off the bottom. Stripers in the 6- to 10-pound range are chasing trout swimbaits about 10 feet down. Catfish are taking anchovies in the backs of coves below Willow Beach and outside of Cottonwood Cove.
