LCT Spawn is Still Ongoing

The LCT spawn is still ongoing at the lake. Fish are shallow and cruising in schools. Some of these shallow fish are willing to eat, but they are few and far between. The fish holding off of drop offs more willing to feed. These are the ones you want to cast to. Weather has been beautiful, sunny and clear skies. This has made fishing more difficult.

River Flows Have Dropped

Well the day started lil odd. We got Glenn his Brown Trout but as I was removing a very very well hooked bait I nearly hooked myself and the fish flopped over side into the net then out of the net. The trout bite has been good this past week. Anglers are taking fish using a variety of baits and lures. There are no reports for bass or crappie, but they should start biting soon as water temperatures are rising.

Trout action has been very good this week with most rainbows averaging about 10 inches with bigger catches mixed in. Anglers have been doing well using orange or rainbow sparkle PowerBait. Those throwing floating trout lures also are doing well. The largemouth bass bite has started, but anglers must practice catch and release through June 30.

Anglers fishing from the dam and the south end of the reservoir are getting lots off action from trout. Crappie and bass have started hitting, but the bite is still slow due to low nighttime temperatures.

Striped bass fishing is picking up on the Colorado River. Rusty’s Riviera is recommending that anglers work from below Davis Dam south through Casino Row. The fish are averaging from 1 to 5 pounds with the smaller fish taking anchovies fished near the bottom. The larger stripers are hitting Bomber Long A’s and Glide Swimmers. Willow Beach Striper Fishing is Good

Anglers are using anchovies to catch stripers off the Willow Beach fishing pier and PowerBait or Rooster Tails to catch rainbow trout south of Willow Beach. Closer to Cottonwood Cove, largemouth bass are hitting spinnerbaits and plastics while smallmouth bass have been taking dark-colored worms south of Cottonwood Cove.

Night crawlers, mealworms, hotdogs and chicken livers are working well for stocked catfish. The bluegill and green sunfish bite has begun. The popular fish are hitting mealworms and imitation grubs. Largemouth bass are taking worms and spinners.

Black Bass Are Hitting

Black bass are hitting across the Boulder Basin in coves with thick vegetation. The fish are hitting on chartreuse creature baits or watermelon colored plastic worms. Catfish are taking worms and anchovies over night from shore and boat. Striped bass are taking crankbaits outside of Callville Bay from sunset until the early nighttime hours.

Kyle from Yerington, Nevada was out at Mason Valley hatchery ponds today and caught limits of trout today, 5 Rainbows. The weather was warm and the bass were big, but weren't bitting any of the spinners, jigs or worms we were using.
