Crystal-clear surface temps remain in the mid‑50s°F this week, warming slightly in calm bays early and late day. The Mackinaw (lake trout) bite is strong around 60–90 ft—use tube jigs or dodger-minnow rigs for 10–15 lb fish. Kokanee begin schooling deeper in July; try bright spoons and hoochies at 80–100 ft. Rainbows and browns are moving shallower near creek mouths, feeding on midges and BWOs—nymph under an indicator

He was using anchovies on a size 1 circle hook, secured with bait wrap thread to keep the bait in place. Multi‑species bite this week

Lake Tahoe’s surface temps in the mid‑50s are triggering a multi‑species bite this week. Deep trolling (60–120 ft) is producing Mackinaw trout to 15+ lb; kokanee are schooling deep; and inlet fishing yields rainbows and browns near 20″. Fish deep early, then shift ‘up’ as the daily hatch intensifies. Mornings provide optimal clarity; afternoons may bring wind. Bring both CA and NV fishing licenses.

They were trolling big plugs on the west side of the lake early in the morning until about 10:30 AM. Overall fishing on Lake Mohave has been solid for stripers

This week we’ve got some great news from Lake Mohave—stripers are biting, and anglers are having success trolling with a variety of swimbaits. Local angler Corn Cougar (Sheila Schuyler) joined Corn Man (Mark Osgood) on his boat and landed two nice stripers: one weighed 5.9 pounds at 27 inches, and the other came in at 7.12 pounds and 28 inches. Flows are holding steady and fishable across the system: ~75 CFS out of Tahoe City, ~230 CFS through Truckee, and ~1,100 CFS near Farad. These are great conditions for both access and food distribution. Water clarity remains high, and mornings offer the best visibility for sight fishing.
