Nevada Fish Reports

40% Full

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The lake is approximately 40% of capacity, ice free and the state park boat ramp is usable for boaters. Anglers should expect fishing to be slow, following two years of no stocking, even though 10,000 trout were stocked last fall. With improved water levels expect stocking to start sometime in April or early May and Wild Horse should receive its full complement of 100,000 to

Not worth the Trip

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Extremely low water levels with warm water make this reservoir a poor choice for fishing. Not worth the trip.

WIlson Update

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The road is rutted, but still in fairly good shape. The lake is spilling heavily and anglers report fish below the spillway and the falls. The water is turbid and approximately 50 degrees. Fishing conditions should be similar to South Fork. Fishing has been fair to good for trout and slow to fair for bass. Bass fishing should start picking up as the water temperature

Should be open by Memorial Day

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The road to Angel Lake is closed. Generally, NDOT has the road open just before Memorial Day.

Hit or Miss

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing has been hit or miss as one day anglers are doing well and the next, it is slow. However, anglers are reporting just as many or more, good days than bad. With the high pressure system moving in next week and warmer temperatures, fishing should only improve. Heavy flows continue to come into the lake bringing lots of dirt and debris causing the water

Slow

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing has been slow in most of the reservoirs this past week, but should start to pick up once the spring storm systems move out and temperatures warm up. Visitors can expect muddy road conditions so the Nevada Department of Wildlife encourages visitors to use caution while traveling on the management area.

Fair to Good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Cave Lake is ice free and the water quality is very good. Fishing has been fair to good for 10 to 13 inch fish using the usual worms and PowerBait. Small Cave Lake specials, wooly buggers and the usual nymphs such as prince, hares ears and pheasant tail nymphs should all work. Spinners in gold, black or dark green with contrasting spots on them have

Rising

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The lake is now ice free and the water level continues to rise. Fish have been seen dimpling the surface, probably taking midges or mayfly emergers. Fishing should be good on the warmer afternoons.

Fair to Good for Bows

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Illipah is ice free and the lake level continues to rise. Fishing has been fair to good for rainbows. Most anglers have been using worms, PowerBait, and spinners. Hares ears, chironomids and olive or black wooly bugers are the ticket for fly fishermen.

Bows Biting

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing continues to be good around the lake for rainbow trout. The fish are taking a variety of baits and lures. Fly-fishermen have been doing well with Woolly Buggers in brown, black or olive colorations.

Check Upper Marsh

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Anglers are finding some success at the upper marsh for panfish and catfish. Mealworms or night crawlers below a bobber will catch fish.

Been OK

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Below Davis Dam and along Casino Row Anglers have found good fishing for rainbow trout. Some anglers have gone home with their limit. Seasonal trout plants have ended, so trout anglers will have to try different locations to find the fish. Largemouth bass are biting on worms. Striper action has picked up, and one angler from California stopped by Rusty’s Riviera to share the tale

Picking up

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Lake Mohave is starting to produce some good stripers as well. Black bass action has been good when the weather cooperates. Largemouth are showing signs of spawning activity.

Fishing is Good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Largemouth bass fishing has picked up because it’s spawning season and they are easier to find. Look for white circles with a gravel bottom in shallow water. NDOW encourages anglers to practice catch-and-release when possible during the spawning period. Striper fishing is picking up as well. Despite the rough weather conditions over the weekend one lucky angler reeled in five stripers.

Gilligan Update

by MATT KOLES
Big big water. Well over 1200 cubes here in the Hirsch this last weekend, and now back to around 1000. The fishing seems to be very difficult if you do not have some experience fishing at these flows. Key is to stay out of the current, good luck. Fish slack edges and do not wade to far out, fish will be at your feet. The whole

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by JIM REID
We've had several clients on the Ranch this past week though not all of them offered reports on the fishing. The ones who did give us a call with reports did very well down there, lots of fish in the 16 to 20 inch range, mostly on nymphs. Seems the best patterns this week were san juan worms, zebra midge, rainbow warrior and ice nymphs.
