Nevada Fish Reports

Low but Fishable

by RENO FLY FISHING OUTFITTERS
The Truckee is still very low but fishable for sure. There are two main sections that seem to be fishing fairly well right now. The canyon section in California and the stretch of river East of Reno. The good news is there have been some fish caught which means that we did not lose all the fish this summer to extreme water temperatures and low

Good Quality Right Now

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Continues to fish well, especially for those who have boats! Now down to 15-30 fish days for some and the size of the Cutthroats are still good. This time of year it's better to get out prior to a High Pressure system moving in, that means windy with or without precip is ideal. Best when wind is coming at you as opposed

Still to Low

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Trout Creek to Stateline is barbless flies and lures only. No beat or scented lures. Catch & Release Only. Please remember that 1,000 feet below Tahoe City to Trout Creek is CLOSED to fishing. The recent flows are as follows: Glenside 18.5 CFS, Prosser 22 CPS, Boca 98 CFS, and Farad 111 CFS. The water temps are between 34-38

Best to Stay Away for Now

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Not sure what to say as temps below the Boca outflow are cold for the trout and with flows at 88 and 96 cfs respectively, it's entirely up to you. My stance is I wouldn't fish but that's me. If you do fish the main river just be cognizant not to fish spawning Browns off their beds. The DFW doesn't stock Browns

Angler Report from Jeremy Curry

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fish report for south fork reservoir today Ice is 4.6inches and fishing was slow but the fish we caught are nice!

Big Salty Lake Update

by TAHOE FLY FISHING STAFF
And of course that big salty lake in the dessert is always worth a go. Look for those windy gnarly days, you know those days when you look outside and think “no I don’t think I wanna go fish today”. That’s the day you wanna go to Pyramid. We have had some great days out there this fall and looking forward to great winter!

Excellent Fishing

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
The fishing at Pyramid Lake has been excellent from shore. The bite should continue to be very good in this unsettled weather.

Still Low

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
The Truckee River is still low. We the recent storms we say the water level rise but it has fallen back down again. Nymphing is the ticket right now. It is supposed to starting snowing at anytime. We are expecting up to one foot in Truckee from this storm.

Quanity Down Quality Up

by MATT KOLES
Pyramid Lake has been good. Sure, I’ve had some shitty days out at the lake, but if you can stay until dark even on those slow days you should get some grabs. Cloud cover and wind are your friend, but it is winter now at the lake and the quantity will drop, but the quality will go up. You just have to man up, brace

El Nino Storms could create Great Winter Fishing

by MATT KOLES
The Truckee River has been very cold, low flows, and massive anchor ice forming. It has not been a good week to fish the river. With the low flows and extremely low air temps this last week, anchor ice has formed on almost it’s entire length. That was the coldest we’ve been since ’13. It was -14 here in the Hirsch. Now it is warming

Truckee River Update

by TAHOE FLY FISHING STAFF
This past week has been cold to say the least. With temps in the teens to single digits, winter is here and the crowds are lacking. At least on the water. With the ski season gearing up for most means the fishing season is quieting down for the seasonal crowd around here. But that doesn’t mean the fish are taking

Eighteen Pounder Weighed In

by CROSBY LODGE
Fishing is finally starting to pick up for both shore and boat on November 28th angler Terry Ryan of Fernley NV - 18 lb 8oz 33in fishing from a boat at Block House using a torpedo (color unspecified) and 15 lb 15.2oz 32.5in fishing from a boat at Popcorn using a purple flat fish Doug Ouellette of Pyramid Lake Guide Service says shore fishers also

Lake Mead Striper Action

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Angler Joe Hanson checked in with a nice 12lbs 33" striper pulled out of lake mead.

Cutt bite takes off at Pyramid

by NOR CAL FISH REPORTS
Bite took off mid-week. Stormy weather has been a big help. Shore anglers are doing best. Both spinning and fly fishing account for action. Monument and Blockhouse are good spots to try. Crosby’s Lodge (775) 476-0400 GUIDES: George Molino 775-476-0555 Cutthroat charters; Joe Mendes Eagle Eye Charters – 775-574-0900

It's Cold!

by MATT KOLES
A very cold arctic air mass has swept down and blanketed all of Truckee-Reno-and Lake Tahoe with very cold temps. We picked up almost a foot of snow here in the Hirsch, and upwards of 2 feet on top. Honestly, here in Hirschdale we have not had a storm like this since ’11. I actually used the snowblower on this one. Pyramid Lake is where

Big Boys are Biting

by CROSBY LODGE
On November 25th Robert Snibley of Tehokhap, CA - 13 lb 4.8oz 31in fishing shore at Indian Head using a blue and chrome spoon.

Kirch Wildlife Management Area Update

by IVY SANTEE
Due to colder temperatures and winter storms systems, few people have been seen on the management area and fishing pressure has been very light. The reservoirs remain ice free, which is mostly due to the high wind conditions and not the temperatures.

Trout biting at Eagle Valley Reservoir

by IVY SANTEE
Fishing remains good at the lake despite storm systems moving through the area over the past week. Three anglers who braved the elements did well for both rainbow trout and tiger trout while throwing Lil Jake lures and night crawlers. The lake remains free of ice, but contact the park for updated conditions (775-962-5102).

Echo Canyon Reservoir Fish Report

by IVY SANTEE
Fishing pressure was very low over the past week as winter storms systems moved through the valley and kept most people off the water. The reservoir remains free of ice, but contact the park for updated conditions (775-962-5103).

Colorado River Fish Report

by IVY SANTEE
Cooler weather changes fishing habits so you may need to change your approach. Fishing from shore has proven successful for stripers. Look for fish holding in holes near structure. Be wary of low water conditions.

Lake Mohave Fish Report

by IVY SANTEE
The upper Mohave has offered the best fishing recently. Some of the best action has come in the coves with top-water baits. According to one report, there was a 40-pound fish pulled in sometime last week.

Striper Action OK

by IVY SANTEE
Striper action has been described as being okay during the morning and evening hours. Windy conditions have made boating and fishing difficult for much of the past week. Live shad and swimbaits are catching most of the fish, some pushing five to six pounds. Look for shad and stripers both in deep water.

Winter Fishing Pattern

by MATT KOLES
The Truckee River is still the same at 80 cfs here in the Hirsch, and 100 cfs down below. We are in a winter type pattern fishing scenario. Things are going to get very, very cold next week, and honesty your best bet is to go fish Pyramid Lake, or the Little Truckee because it will be tough going on the main Truckee. We have

Pyramid bite fair

by NOR CAL FISH REPORTS
Bite remains decent, but far from great. Best fish last week was a 19.3 pounder caught from the shore at Pelican. Equal action from shore or boat. Top shore spots include Spider, Blockhouse, Pelican and Warrior. Boats do well on the north end of the lake, Warrior and Popcorn.
