Anglers trolling have been having to work hard and long to get a couple fish. They have been deep in the middle of the lake or close to the river inlet. Anglers are catching rainbow trout and bass at Cold Springs and Haymeadow reservoirs.

Trout are hitting spinners and PowerBait while plastics and spinnerbaits are working for bass in the 9- to 12-inch range. Work bait along the dam and submerged weed beds. Wild weather has changed things up this past week. Rainbow trout are still taking night crawlers with a piece of marshmallow, small spinners and flies. Bass are still taking crappie lures, as well as brightly colored spinnerbaits and crank baits. The best action has been during early morning hours. Be mindful of afternoon thunderstorms.

Crappie action has slowed considerably but bass action has been fast. Trout and bass continue to take night crawlers and artificial lures. Though some of the best action takes place during rain storms, Park Ranger Ben Johnson is encouraging anglers to exercise caution and avoid the lake during the storms.

LAKE MOHAVE - With the summer storms stirring up the water and creating murky conditions, anglers have found success for catfish while fishing in the coves. Most are being caught on night crawlers or anchovies. At Willow Beach anglers have caught double-digit stripers, some reportedly as large as 20 pounds. Baits of choice are AC Plugs, Savage Gear trout imitations and anchovies.

The ranch is still fishing very good, dry/dropper rigs have probably been the most productive. The flows have dropped a little bit the last couple days so that should make the dry action even better. Most of the same flies that are working on the Cali side will also work on the ranch.
