Trout fishing should be fair to good in the pond behind the hatchery and near the main boat landing. Panther Martins, Kastmasters and spinners are recommended. Try small spinner baits or soft plastics. Fly anglers are having luck stripping dark-colored wooly buggers near Brown Dike. Fishing from the dike around Unit 21 has also been good for bass. Fishing has been fair to good for trout. Stocked fish include rainbow, tiger and brown trout. Fish are averaging 14 to 20 inches, with plenty of opportunity for fish over 20 inches. Try wooly buggers or zebra midges for fly anglers, or small spinners and Panther Martins for spin anglers. Special Regulations: Artificial lures only, no wading.

Water is starting to turn a little green, but the big algae bloom hasn’t happened yet. Trout of good size are still being caught from shore, but boaters are tending to have better luck in deeper water. Bass are hitting off weedy points and in the coves. Bait fisherman using salmon eggs and baby crawlers on light lines under bobbers are catching fish all day. The Truckee remains high but is fishing well. We’ve been at roughly 900cfs for a few weeks but should see flows reduced slightly as we move further into summer. The fish are healthy and happy even with the spike in early summer temperatures and the clarity remained good all spring. No recent repots of USFW stocking the Lahontan Cutthroats but that should change as flows

Excellent Fishing at Walker River, East Fork

Flows have been a little high at roughly 250cfs for quite a while, but fishing has remained excellent. Stocking has been strong from spring through summer so far and should continue as temperatures allow. Spin fisherman using bright spinners and small spoons are finding fish just about everywhere. Fly fisherman with larger streamers in the deeper runs have been just as effective as the spinners.

Knott Creek Reservoir has been fishing very well. Shore anglers tossing small spoons and kastmasters into deeper water away from vegetation are finding some good fish. Fly fisherman using large leech patterns and damsels from boats and float tubes are catching some really nice fish early and late in the day. Stripers are active

At Lake Mohave (report courtesy of Rusty Braun of Riviera Marina), stripers are active, with anglers doing well near the dam on the Nevada side by the rocks. Trolling has been effective just outside the Katherine Landing Marina in the Telephone Cove area, while the coves past the power lines are producing some fish with anchovies being the bait of choice.
