Trout fishing should be fair to good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Rainbow trout were stocked 5/13/24. Water temps are in the 50s and water clarity is good. Trout fishing should be fair to good. Try rooster tails, spoons, Rapalas, or an inflated worm a couple feet off the bottom. Trout will be actively feeding in the shallows throughout the day. by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Spring stockings of channel catfish and wipers occured this week. Most anglers are having luck fishing near the dam, catching rainbow trout in the 15″-18” range. Try Rooster tails and flashy spinners, or an inflated worm under a bobber. Fly anglers are having luck stripping olive wooly buggers or fishing balanced leeches under an indicator. Anglers should fish the shallows, where the water is warmer.

Cold Creek Reservoir is at 90 percent of capacity

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Cold Creek Reservoir is at 90% of capacity with rainbow trout and tiger trout being caught in the 9-to-12-inch range.  There is potential for some trout to be larger, however, they have not had too long to grow following the 2021 draw down of the reservoir to fix the outlet structure. Anglers will do well fishing for trout using a variety of spinners, nightcrawlers, and PowerBait.

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
Our local angler, Mike Merrit, is featured with a nice catch of recently planted rainbow trout. He was fishing from shore at Rotary Park using power bait to land his limit of five trout. These fish, brought in from Colorado, help manage the caddis fly issue and provide angling opportunities. Word has it that the striper bite is good near the casinos, Community Park, and

Great Spring weather and good fishing on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Perfect frigging weather. Springs the best. Usually it don’t stop snowing until June, but this years been pretty nice. Flows are slowly coming down. Around 1000 cfs here in Hirschdale, and 1,300 cfs down lower. Not that big really. Clarity is coming back in shape too. Was never really bad the last few weeks, but much clearer now. My best advise is to lay off the worms

The ranch is still fishing very well

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is still fishing very well just like the Cali side of the river, of course the ranch section doesn’t get nearly as crowded as the rest of the water down there so if you want to have a little bit of river without the crowds give us a call and see about a reservation!

Nymph fishing and streamer fishing will be your best bet

by RENO FLY SHOP
Nymph fishing and streamer fishing will be your best bet. Nymphs in brighter colors have worked in the off color water. Squirmy Worms and Firestarters have been some of the most purchased patterns over the last few weeks. Anglers are finding success with these in certain spots. Additionally, anchor flies such as the Emma Stone and Cray-Z Emma get the rig down quickly.  Nymph fishing and

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
Thanks to our recent trout stocking, anglers are having great luck catching rainbow trout. Local angler Jonathan Longtime landed his limit at Rotary Park, fishing from shore using plastic trout worms. Nice catch! I'm also receiving reports of striper activity in the Community Park area and near the dam. Anglers are having the best luck with anchovies, while lures are producing some of the larger fish. A

The higher flows have made it a bit more difficult but there are still good fish being caught

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is pretty much in the same boat as the Cali side of the river, the higher flows have made it a bit more difficult but there are still good fish being caught. Much of the same patterns that are working on the Cali side are also working on the Nevada side as well as the ranch.

Truckee River Fishing Report

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
With the tributaries of the river pumping in a lot of water as it makes it way downstream, the Truckee changes a lot between the various sections. With the recent drop in flows out of Lake Tahoe the upper section of the Truckee from Tahoe City to River Ranch is once again running low and it probably won’t be until you hit the area around

Upper Truckee River water levels are low, but the fishing is still good in some deeper sections

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Water Conditions With low flows coming from Lake Tahoe, the Upper Truckee River water levels are low, but the fishing is still good in some deeper sections. Heading towards Truckee, the flows pick up with all of the creeks and runoff feeding into the river. Even with the runoff we are seeing, clarity is still good. Flows are currently 74 CFS out of Tahoe City, 612

The lake level has started to come down a few feet over the last week or two

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level has started to come down a few feet over the last week or two. Fishing has been good for early morning anglers trolling flashers followed by a worm or a #1 needlefish lure. Some anglers have just been trolling a Panther Martin or a Roostertail behind the boat. When you troll spinners, I recommend using a small ball bearing snap swivel so

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

Our striper bite is holding well along the shores of the Colorado River below the Davis Dam. Visiting angler Brian Grey landed a nice batch of fish while shore fishing near the Davis Dam, using anchovies for bait on the Nevada side. Reports from other anglers indicate stripers are being caught in the Community Park Rotary Park area and various other locations. Occasionally, trout are

Pretty solid Spring fly fishing on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Glitch in the system with the snow and the weather this past weekend. 68 by next weekend in Truckee, bring it. Pretty solid Spring fly fishing on the Truckee River. Big fish time. Not lots of fish time. Flows came up a bit with the rain and snow. About 1,200 cfs here in Hirschdale and higher as you go down towards Reno. We still have some snow

The ranch is still fishing well

The river has seen a good drop in flows this week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The river has seen a good drop in flows this week and has begun to run quite a bit more clear than in the past few weeks. This will be the case along the entire system, from here in Truckee all the way through Reno. It’s hard to tell if we are just seeing a temporary drop in flows due to cooler air temps, or
