Nevada Fish Reports

14 3/4 lb. Laker

by MIKE NIELSEN
One interesting catch we had today. Nice 14 3/4 lb laker we c/ r. Action has been definitely up n down and each day a different strategy but we have seen and experienced this over our 27 seasons past Guiding. We’re getting mixed bags most days and it’s been literally incredible weather. Hard to think just 4 weeks ago we were in a roof shoveling panic to avoid

Pyramid Lake Fishing Report

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
As we reach the height of the spawn at Pyramid Lake, expect to see a lot of fish, but only catch a few. This time can not only be frustrating for the angler, but we can’t feel like the fish aren’t too happy about being targeted at this time either.  Our recommendation would be to give this fishery a break over the next few weeks and

Truckee River Fishing Report

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The Truckee has been seeing steadily increasing flows this week, and while the flows may “yo-yo” daily, the overall trajectory is up. The water has remained off color and in the canyon section near the Nevada border, we wouldn’t necessarily call it blown out, but fishing here is more challenging than normal, and in general, it isn’t easy. As you head up the system the

The lake level has been dropping a little to accomodate for the snow melt

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level has been dropping a little to accomodate for the snow melt. The lake level is low enough to camp on the east shore in the Douglas park area. Fishing has been fair for shore and trollers. NDOW planted the lake with rainbow trout recently.

The ice is finally started to melt

by WILD HORSE STATE RECREATION AREA
The ice is finally started to melt. Not enough open water for boats but lots of nice open areas for shore fishing

The reservoir is currently at 74,000 acre feet

by LAHONTAN STATE RECREATION AREA
The reservoir is currently at 74,000 acre feet. We do not advise that you launch any boat or jetski in the water at this time. Underwater hazards such as stumps, sand bars, rocky areas, etc. are a few feet from the surface of the water. If you choose to launch, you are doing so at your own risk. We anticipate the water level to flucate

Trout and Stripers Biting This Week

by RUSTY
We have both stripers and trout on the hook, and our local as well as visiting anglers are enjoying some great fishing in the outdoors. Our local angler Jennifer Gonzalez was able to catch her limit of rainbow trout at Davis Camp while fishing from shore using a brown trout jig. Meanwhile, down the river, our local angler Bill Trude and his visiting nephew Todd

This will lead to a temporary closure at Pearce Ferry Launch Ramp. Our crews will be making adjustments to boat ramps and facilities near beaches in preparation for this high-water event. Pyramid has been fishing pretty fair again this week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Pyramid has been fishing pretty fair again this week, and while the fish are certainly showing signs of entering spawn, there are still quite a few fish still feeding aggressively. On warmer days the midge bite has been great, with great activity in the morning, a lull mid morning, and again kicking up again after noon. The colder days have made for better days to

Things have changed quite a bit on the Truckee over the last week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Things have changed quite a bit on the Truckee over the last week. The colder weather has slowed the runoff, the flows have dropped and the water has cleared up nicely to a “steelhead green” along most sections of the river. The Glenshire area has dropped from 1,000 CFS on Monday to 700 CFS as of today. We have had a few reports of some

Pyramid rose to 91 percent of capacity, and water conditions are improving

by CHAD BURTON AND CHRIS BORDEN
Pyramid rose to 91 percent of capacity, and water conditions are improving. Bass anglers reported fair fishing with an improving bite. Large and smallmouth fell for Texas rigs, drop shot, and Senkos in 5 to 30 feet of water with numerous catches right up on shore. Purple, brown, and green pumpkin were good color choices. Striper anglers reported a fair bite on cut anchovies and
