Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
with not much going on I had to pull up an old photo of my granddaughter, Riah Braun, with some rainbow trout she landed at Rotary Park area. Our weather has been keeping even the hardest in and warm. Even our snowbirds are staying out of the wind and cold. But besides that I have been getting some word of a striper or two being

Fly fishing at Pyramid Lake has been hot following the string of storms

by RENO FLY SHOP
Fly fishing at Pyramid Lake has been hot following the string of storms that hit the region through mid January. With weather conditions shifting now towards sunny days, the effective tactics have shifted a bit. The “midge bite” is anticipated every season around this time and I can tell you it has begun! Midges can be seen hatching around the lake as temperatures increase late

Fly fishing on the Truckee River has improved since the last fishing report as a result of dropping flows

by RENO FLY SHOP
Fly fishing on the Truckee River has improved since the last fishing report as a result of dropping flows. The storms that pounded the region in early January have shifted and made way for sunny days here in the Reno/Tahoe area. As a result, clarity has improved greatly as tributaries to the main river have settled down and cold temps have stopped snow melt.  Most days

Pyramid Lake Fishing Report

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Pyramid has seen some slower days this week as we see continued sunny skies, and as expected we’ve the bite windows best first thing in the morning, before sun-up, and again in the afternoon from 3-5. The storm expected to move in Sunday will certainly help for short term, but until we see extended overcast days in the forecast, expect to work hard for your

Cold on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Cold on the Truckee River. Pretty much summed up the week. Very cold lows in Truckee, and Reno. Been in the negatives most mornings here in Hirschdale. Just barely warming up to fishable temps. Reno has been much more fishable, especially out East on the lower river. We’ll have a few days of warmth, then cold for the beginning of next week. It should warm back up

Topaz has risen about 5 to 8 feet

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake has risen about 5- to 8 feet. The California side still has too much snow on the bank to drive down to. I saw where someone had driven down to the shore on the north end and got stuck in the snow and mud. A couple people had parked up on the road and walked down to shore fish. The Douglas County boat

We have wind and some rain and plenty

Pyramid has been fishing very consistently over the last few week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Pyramid has been fishing very consistently over the last few weeks with good reports of daily numbers, although the sizes have been somewhat lacking so far this year as seemingly fewer big fish have shown us thus far. To be fair, when we say the fish have been a bit small, we are still seeing quite a few fish in the 8-12 pound range, but

The Truckee River has come into shape very nicely in the last week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The Truckee River has come into shape very nicely in the last week with excellent flows and water clarity. Some access here on the California side has begun to pop up, and Glenshire area has one parking area for 1-2 cars right at the bridge as well as a plowed parking area at the Legacy Trail right up the road from the bridge which provides

The MJO looks to be in a positive phase for Ca come February. Feb could be a stormy month too. Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts. For now, we have great winter

We have very high flows on the Truckee river, but it is fishable

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
We have very high flows on the Truckee river, but it is fishable.  The biggest challenge is finding parking due to the high snow pack. There is some parking down the 80 corridor at Floriston and Farad.  Wade carefully if you are going to wade at all in the river.  Tips for the Week Indicator nymphing is the best technique right now. The fish are holding in the
