The Sceirine and Rosachi sections on the Nevada side are still fishing pretty well

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The East Walker on the California side of the state line is closed until April 27. 2024. The Nevada side of the river is open through the Winter.  The EW is running at about 94 cfs right now and the Sceirine and Rosachi sections on the Nevada side are still fishing pretty well. The weather has been very nice here lately, much the opposite of last

End of the Year, but the Season Is Just Turning On!

by PYRAMID FLY CO.
It has been an interesting start to the 2023/24 season at Pyramid Lake, and that is meant in a positive connotation in case you’re wondering. Lower water temps started the season off in October and essentially shifted the balance of fish behavior to reflect that of being much later in the season. Hence, here we are at the end of December and this still holds

Midge fishing under the indicator has been the most productive way to target the LCT

by RENO FLY SHOP
El Niño years are on average mild and wet. This means that we should get the nice storms that make the fish happy and hungry without the cold days that can send even the most hardened Pyramid angler running back to the retreat of a warm truck cab. Here’s hoping for just that scenario. This time of year the water is still cooling, this downward trend

Conditions on the Truckee River have also benefited from the mild weather so far

by RENO FLY SHOP
Conditions on the Truckee River have also benefited from the mild weather so far. Water temps have risen above 40F through town and even a few degrees higher downstream. These few degrees have really woken up the fish. All tactics have worked nymphs, beads, streamers and even some dry flies have worked on cloudier days. It seems that fish have moved into slower water but are

The water level is high and clear

by DOUG BUSEY
The water level is high and clear. The Douglas County park is open for camping and boat launching. All three ramps have been adjusted to be utilized. With the lake level so high, the dry camping on the east side is not available past the main cove. I fished this week with Reed Mitchell from Gardnerville, NV. We started about 8:30 and fished until the

The river is running low and is open all year with no gear restrictions

by DOUG BUSEY
The river is running low and is open all year with no gear restrictions. Best areas would be on the south end of Gardnerville by the broken dam.

3 to 5 inches of ice in the areas sampled in the reservoir

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Illipah Reservoir is ice covered. As of 12/28/23, ice measured 3 to 5 inches in the areas sampled in the reservoir.  The middle of the reservoir has the thickest ice while the south end has the thinnest. The ice throughout is poor quality and anglers should use caution while ice fishing.  Always be prepared with safety equipment like ice cleats, picks and a long rope.

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
Hello! It's me, reminiscing about a memorable catch of rainbow trout from a couple of seasons ago. As the holidays and the New Year approach, I thought it would be a good time to provide an update on our trout plants. In the past, the limit for trout was ten fish, but due to both the caddis fly issue, the current bag limit is 5. We

With holidays winding down, it’s time to get back on the river!

Should be fishing well with mostly the same patterns as on the Rosachi section

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
We haven’t had anyone on the ranch lately but it should be fishing well with mostly the same patterns as on the Rosachi section. If the weather is halfway decent it’s a good time of year to get out there!

The Rosachi section in Nevada has been fishing pretty well

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The East Walker on the California side of the state line is closed until April 27. 2024. The Nevada side of the river is open through the Winter.  The Rosachi section in Nevada has been fishing pretty well with some reports coming in from anglers catching 10+ fish per day. The good fishing hours this time of the year are pretty short, you really don’t need

Pyramid continues to fish fair this week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Pyramid continues to fish fair this week, with not a lot of high number days, but some excellent fish being put in the net for the persistent angler. We have still done best when fishing under an indicator. However, we have seen some quality fish caught on the strip this week, including a 20-pounder caught by Trout Creek Outfitters shop-hand and guide, Finn Loper. The

The storm put a nice bit of color in the water and stirred things up a bit

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The river came up about 300 CFS along various sections of the river during the peak of last week’s rain, and has since begun to taper off. This didn’t make the river “blown out” but rather put a nice bit of color in the water and stirred things up a bit. This will make the larger bugs like worms, eggs and stones increasingly effective over

**No-Ice Update**

by SOUTH FORK STATE REC. AREA
**No-Ice Update** Seeking relationship experts to help convince winter to commit to something longer-term than it's been willing to lately. We're still sitting on mostly open water around our shoreline, with some ice floating in the middle of the lake, and along our shallow areas. Shore fishing has been good, and some folks are still launching small crafts from the Jet Ski Beach launch. It's been too foggy

Fishing for black bass and striped bass has reportedly been decen

by ARIZONA GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT
Lake Mead is currently at 1,066.85 feet above msl. Fishing for black bass and striped bass has reportedly been decent. Jerkbaits have worked for black bass while plastic baits have been catching catfish and smallmouth bass near coves. Launching conditions around Lake Mead are changing regularly. For current open ramps and access conditions, visit https://www.nps.gov/lake/planyourvisit/conditions.htm.

14.26 lb. Striper

by RUSTY
More river updates on our striper bite along the shores of the Colorado River below the Davis Dam. At this time of year, it's all about shore fishing due to the low water releases from the dam. Nevertheless, our anglers are experiencing great success with their favorite lures. One notable catch was by local angler Ray Macillan, who landed a substantial 14.26-pound striper while lure

New State Record Yellow Perch

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
On the 6th day of Fishmas, a bite on the line came to me, with a trophy yellow perch in a freshwater sea!   A new state record was caught by Jason Flaten, when he reeled in this beauty at Wildhorse Reservoir on December 13th. Weighing in at 1lb 9oz, it beat the previous state record that was actually a tie between two waters. Get out and

**Ice Update** **Ramp Closure**

by SOUTH FORK STATE REC. AREA
**Ice Update** **Ramp Closure** The Boat Ramp is officially closed for the season. Water temps have cooled enough that nighttime lows are producing a skin of ice over most of the lake, with varied amounts of open water around the shoreline depending on which way the wind is blowing and the ice is shifting. Here's to hoping for some colder temps down the pipeline so we can

It is Pyramid Lake season, and it is fully underway!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
There is plenty of cloud cover in the forecast for next week at Pyramid. Cloud cover is generally a good thing. It can often lead to fish feeding in shallow water or closer to the surface. With what’s in the forecast for next week, any day could be a great one. But, if there’s one thing we know about Pyramid Lake, it’s that the bite

Fishing the river has been challenging lately, but always rewarding

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
If you’re looking for the aforementioned challenge and inspiration, the Truckee River is full of it right now. Fishing the river has been challenging lately, but always rewarding. The cold weather has fully settled in, and the snow is sticking to the mountains and ridgelines above the river. The banks are still largely snow free throughout most of the canyon, but the air temperature is
