The dock has been removed from the water for the season at Wildhorse State Recreation Area. Recent warmer weather and winds are slowing down the ice formation. As of 12/14/23 ice fishing on the reservoir is NOT safe. In the remaining open water, anglers have been targetting trout with rooster-tails, spoons, or Rapalas. Touching upon my opening paragraph from this weeks report, one thing that I have learned in my years of trout fishing is these fish like consistency, so we expect fishing to remain fair, especially as the air temps rise early next week.

Nine-year-old local angler Maddelyn Archer, fishing in the area with anchovies, landed a impressive-sized striper with the assistance of her dad, Joshua Verkamp.
