Stampede Reservoir continues to provide improving fishing opportunities as water temperatures settle into the mid-50s. This may be one of the less crowded lakes this weekend with it being more of a trek, but still expect a pickup in boat traffic. Kokanee fishing is steadily gaining momentum at Stampede, with fish becoming increasingly aggressive and responding well to pink or orange hoochies fished behind dodgers. The most productive areas remain around the Sagehen and Little Truckee inlets, with kokanee holding in 40 to 60 feet of water. Rainbow trout anglers trolling Rapalas are finding steady action, while shore anglers are catching fish on spinners, worms, and PowerBait. Most kokanee are still averaging 8 to 10 inches but should continue growing throughout the summer.
