Western Nevada Fish Reports

Been lagging a little on the posts mostly because it's been a busy week. I've had friends in town, guiding, bbq's, summertime Truckee kind of stuff. The river is good if you get out there in the mornings, shitty in the afternoons, and descent in the evenings. Crays, stones, caddis, sallys, put them in your fly box if you want success on the Truckee River.

Heading in to our third week of July the river is in great shape. Flows are still up out of Tahoe for the booze crew, and above 500 cubes in the Hirsch and below. Perfect. Cooler daytime temps and colder overnight temps have put the water temps back into the higher 50's during start time. Afternoons have been a windy proposition as of late. Crays,

The flows have been really consistent over the past couple of weeks from Tahoe City down through Reno. Wet wading season is in full swing as summer conditions are in place. My buddy Morten from Norway made it up to Truckee for a few days. Not really sure if Vikings are from Norway, but I know he likes Whale meat. He catches some big ass Atlantic Salmon back home on the two handers, so tackling some Truckee trout wasn't a problem. We lost some nice fish and caught some small ones, typical Truckee River style.
