Another long dry spell for the Sierra's, and the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Another long dry spell for the Sierra's, and the Truckee River, ugh. Super mild afternoons, and very cold at night. Very stagnant weather pattern.  With the cold overnight lows, best to start a bit later in the morning. On the Nevada side, don't really matter to much as it's not nearly as cold at night near Reno.  You're gonna have some pretty low water temps on the

Topaz Lake Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake has come up about 4 ft since my last trip down there. The boat ramp is open and clear. The center dock is the only one available right now. I fished this week with long time fellow angler Don from Carson City.  We started trolling about 9:30 and fished until 2pm. I could see big schools of fish everywhere. But the bite was

We are having a great striper season along the shores of the Colorado River below Davis Dam

by RUSTY
We are having a great striper season along the shores of the Colorado River below Davis Dam. Local angler Kenan Guleryuz is showing off an impressive catch after fishing from shore in the Community Park area using a swimbait. He landed a beautiful 25.02-pound striper measuring 40 inches—an outstanding fish! We also recently had a trout plant at Community Park, which is great news for our

Ice has now formed over the majority of the reservoir

by WILD HORSE STATE RECREATION AREA
Ice has now formed over the majority of the reservoir. Since the ice is still newly formed, we are unsure of thickness and do not recommend being out on it. We are seeing people beginning to ice fish and it is much too early. We will be having warmer temps for the next week or so and we will see how the ice holds up.

After a slow start to the season, the reservoir iced over this past weekend

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE

It has been very cold here

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The California side of the EW is closed for Winter, just the Nevada side is open now. We haven't had any new news from the East Walker lately, it has been very cold here, if you watch the flows on the river you've noticed that it's been bumped up to about 33 cfs from 22 cfs, the reason for this is because it's been so

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Current Water Conditions With the recent precipitation, flows on the Truckee River right now are slightly higher than normal for the winter season—holding around 51 CFS out of Tahoe City, 174 CFS through the Glenshire area, and 631 CFS at Farad. The bite is slower this time of year, but can still be rewarding for anyone wanting to make the trek through the snow. Snow banks

The lake really kick into gear over the last few weeks

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
We have seen the lake really kick into gear over the last few weeks and while this week slowed down with the nicer weather and the full moon, it has certainly fished more like we’ve seen in past years. All methods are having their day (or maybe even hour) and we are finding them on both leeches and midges under the indicator as well as

The Truckee has dropped back into stable flows with cold and clear conditions this week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The Truckee has dropped back into stable flows with cold and clear conditions this week after a few weeks of overly wet storms, which caused the river to periodically run high and off color. With a return to conditions similar to the month of December, LBS (Little Black Stuff) will be your best friend right now.    Midges and baetis make up the bulk of this category,

Pyramid Lake has fished very well to begin the new year

by RENO FLY SHOP
Pyramid Lake has fished very well to begin the new year. The storms over the holiday encouraged fish into the shallows—resulting in a lot of feeding fish. Both the strip bite and indicator bite have been good at Pyramid Lake on any given day. Depending on the type of beach you are fishing, you will want to adjust your approach. On cloudy days, the shallow and
