The reservoir is entirely covered with ice. In the areas tested, ice was 4 to 4.5 inches. The quality of ice was deemed good and should provide with good fishing to anglers. Anglers will do well on rainbow trout with nightcrawlers, PowerBait, and other lures that can be jigged. A total of 5,715 rainbow trout, averaging 8.6 inches were stocked. Some unsafe ice reported at the boat ramp and parts of the collection ditch. Expect Harrison Pass to be impassable after the recent snow. Anglers fishing the collection ditch are reporting fair to good angling for trout with trout over 20 inches being reported. Fall stocking has also increased angler success at the south springs. Fly anglers are reported success with streamers, leeches and chironomids.

The fishing has been good to fair

The fishing has been good to fair. Most angler have been fishing shallow along the Camp Richardson area to Taylor Creek. They have been using a silver dodger followed 18 to 24 inches behind with a live minnow. Some angler have had good success with F9 black and silver Rapalas off of downriggers. Ice has now formed over the majority of the reservoir. Since the ice is still newly formed, we are unsure of thickness and do not recommend being out on it. We are seeing people beginning to ice fish and it is much too early. We will be having warmer temps for the next week or so and we will see how the ice holds up.

The boat dock has been removed from the water for the winter. After a slow start to the season, the reservoir iced over this past weekend. All ice should be considered unsafe at this time. State Park staff will take ice measurements when it is safe to do so. If ice conditions become safe, trout fishing should be good for fish between 16″ and 22″.
