Nevada Fish Reports

Mostly rainbows are being caught in the canyon area with not many brown trout being reported

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Current Water Conditions With the recent precipitation, flows on the Truckee River right now are slightly higher than normal for the winter season—holding around 76 CFS out of Tahoe City, 220 CFS through the Glenshire area, and 503 CFS at Farad. The bite is slower this time of year, but can still be rewarding for anyone wanting to make the trek in the colder weather.

Our measurements from today were anywhere from 7-8 inches when accessing from the boat ramp

by WILD HORSE STATE RECREATION AREA
Our measurements from today were anywhere from 7-8” when accessing from the boat ramp. There are pretty large pressure ridges to avoid and pooling water on top of the ice from the warmer weather. We will be in the 50s for the coming week, so please exercise caution when out on the reservoir. We will measure again closer to the fishing derby Amy’s Bar is

by LAHONTAN STATE RECREATION AREA

We are still seeing the bite remain a bit day-to-day out here

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
We are still seeing the bite remain a bit day-to-day out here, due in large to the lack of weather this year. There’s still a good opportunity most days to find fishing during the morning bite window, but typically this will die off mid-day, and the evening bite has been spotty. Focus on getting on the water during that hour before sunup and fish hard

The Truckee has been fishing very well this week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The Truckee has been fishing very well this week. This is such a great time to live in the area and have the opportunity to go fish the river on a whim, with few others around and plenty of fired up fish! With the fish holding in slow water right now, indicator fishing is the name of the game, focus on walking speed water or

Ice thickness is variable across the reservoir

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Ice thickness is variable across the reservoir, measuring between 4″ and 6″ in most areas surveyed, with some areas of thinner ice. Always take caution and drill test holes. There are multiple pressure ridges that formed across the lake and anglers should steer clear of. Daytime high’s have been up to 50 degrees, resulting in puddles on top of the ice. Use extreme caution throughout

Much of the reservoir is covered in very thin, unsafe ice

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The dock at the main boat ramp has been removed for the winter. Much of the reservoir is covered in very thin, unsafe ice. Do not attempt to venture onto the ice. Some open water remains along pockets of the shoreline of Jet Ski Beach and Coyote Cove campground. Trout fishing has been fair, with the most action midday. Fish are hitting combinations of PowerBait

The ice on the southeast end of the lake is sitting at 6 to 7 inches

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The lake is entirely covered with ice. The ice on the southeast end of the lake is sitting at 6 to 7 inches.  The ice was not tested in the middle of the lake straight out from the large day-use cove and to the dam. Based on observation the ice quality in this area is poor and anglers should avoid it.  Anglers should always use

Approximately half of the reservoir is covered with a thin layer of ice

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Approximately 50% of the reservoir is covered with a thin layer of ice. The southern half of the reservoir has open water and should be conducive to shoreline angling. Anglers could use nightcrawlers and spinners to catch trout this winter. The fishery is recovering after significant drawdown events.

Comins Lake Ice Update and Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The north lake is covered in 2.5 to 3.5 inches of ice. The ice quality on the north lake is poor and anglers should avoid this area. Moving through the narrows and into the south lake the ice is 5 to 8 inches thick. The ice quality in these areas is good and should provide good fishing. On the south end, near the float tube

The reservoir lost ice since last week, but is still mostly covered in ice

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The reservoir lost ice since last week, but is still mostly covered in ice. The area north of the old dam is a mix of 4- to 7-inch-thick ice.  The quality of ice in this area was deemed good and should provide with good fishing to anglers. The ice that was firm black ice two weeks ago is now soft and fair to poor quality.

Trout stocking continues

by RUSTY
Trout stocking continues, and we’re in the middle of an excellent fishing season. The Community Park area was the most recent stocking site this week. Anglers are having great success using nightcrawlers and PowerBait, and spinners like Panther Martin and Blue Fox are sure to help you land your limit of five fish. My personal favorite is a variety of trout jigs—they’re both fun and very

Lake Tahoe Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Talking with my friend and fellow angler Jason Blanchette. Their last trip out they trolled Rapalas early and caught a few mackinaws. Then they switched to Blades and a live minnow (which using live minnows, they have to be caught in the lake. you cannot bring in from another source) They ended up catching 12 mac's with the biggest weighing in at 8lbs. Jason took

The lake level has come up a few feet

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level has come up a few feet. There were fish all over the lake. Which we pickup on my scanner. We trolled various Rapalas in f3's f5's and j7's in various patterns with only a few strikes and one to the boat. I spoke with a few other anglers and they had the same luck. Reminder that if you use the park area

The majority of the reservoir is open water

by SPRING VALLEY STATE PARK
Well unfortunately we have bad news on the ice front! The majority of the reservoir is open water. On the positive side you can fish open water off of the boat dock for now. #nvstateparks ##vistlincolncountynv #icefishing

This has been quite a different year than last year, which we can only blame on the lack of weather so far this winter

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The fishing at Pyramid remains slow this week and with sunny, windless days in the forecast, we can’t imagine things improving in the near future. This has been quite a different year than last year, which we can only blame on the lack of weather so far this winter. We are still hopeful there will be a window of some great fishing out here this

Fishing here on the California side has been picking up this week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Fishing here on the California side has been picking up this week. The nymph fishing using worms, baetis and midges has been great, and there has been some opportunity for throwing dries at the Glenshire Bridge area using baetis and midges mid-day. When fishing up high in the system, such as in the town of Truckee, focus on fishing the warmest points of the day.

Ice thickness measurements of anywhere from 4-6 inches

by WILD HORSE STATE RECREATION AREA
We have some good news! After measuring several locations off of the boat ramp, we received ice thickness measurements of anywhere from 4-6”. Please remember that if you are out on the ice, the ice thickness can be more or less depending on where you are at on the reservoir. So please exercise caution when out on the ice and always avoid sketchy looking areas
