Bobbers Dropping All Day!

Jim’s first day at the lake was one to remember! The bobbers were dropping and more often than not they were good size fish. And when you’re 6’ 5” you make even the big fish look like normal ones. Needless to say, its only 4:30 and I’m tired from sprinting but and down the beach.

Action at The lake Have Increased

The action at the lake has increased as the trout are getting comfortable in depths less than 15 feet. Retrieving flies has still been the most productive, but midges and balanced leeches under the indicator are producing at times. Morning and evening bite, in low light conditions, has been best. Pyramid Lake is now open. Permits are only available online or at the kiosks at the ranger station. They are $24 per day. Campers and anglers have been successful lately with good size trout in the 12 to 15 inches range. Fishing is almost back to normal with a stocking of rainbows and tigers a few weeks back. Days Have Been Warm Enough To Keep The Ice Off The Edges

Days have been warm enough to keep the edges from icing up. A few anglers at Echo Canyon reported doing well catching rainbow trout. They are using night crawlers and rainbow PowerBait. Anglers of All Skill Levels Are Enjoying The Recent Stockings

Colorado River - Laughlin

Anglers of all skill levels are enjoying the recent rainbow trout stockings in the Colorado River. Jigs, spinners, PowerBait and worms have all resulted in catches from shore. Boaters are trolling anchovies and trout lures to land striped bass between 1 and 2 pounds. There are few reports of catfish taking stink bait and anchovies near the Laughlin Lagoon.

Lake Mohave Fishing Report

At Willow Beach rainbow trout are biting at the fishing pier and nearby shorelines. The fish are taking soft plastics tubes, jigs and multi-colored spinners. A few reports of large striper catches have come in from boaters fishing the deeper water. Black bass anglers are seeing the most action in the Cottonwood Basin or at the south end of Lake Mohave. Topwater Action For Striped Bass in The Mornings Has Been Good

Anglers are still seeing topwater action for striped bass in the mornings. Other anglers are reporting larger striper catches when jigging around 100 feet. Black bass action is hit and miss, with anglers having the most luck at Callville Bay and throughout Government Wash. The fish are taking crankbaits in shad and crawdad patterns, as well as a variety of floating baits.

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

We are having some great fishing going on and our anglers are doing well. Up on Lake Mohave above the Davis Dam Mike Gabrielson was fishing off of his kayak using a Panther Martin and landed a nice Smallmouth Bass. It weighed in at 3.76 pounds and was 19 and 1/2 inches. When indicator fishing dont always expect the bobber to suck under 3 feet. Especially in the choppy water. If that bobber looks suspect and does something odd more than likely it’s a fish. Sometimes the grabs are subtle, with a big fish on the end gracefully sucking up those bugs. Set on everything!
