Fishing has been good on the north end of the lake. Many limits of mackinaws have been coming in. The Cal/Neva point to Carnelian Bay. Most have been fishing the ledges with a flasher and a minnow. I have not received any reports on the south end from any anglers.

NDOW has Planted Over 7000 lbs of Catchable Trout

Not many anglers have gone out due to weather. Last weekend I fished for about six hours with friend Tom Blotter. We boated and released 3 fish in the 14 to 16 inch class. Nice Catch

A nice fish caught by Brendan LaFountain on February 23. We were fishing with Hans Moxley of Hooked Up Guide Service (530) 546-2221 out of Carnelian Bay on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. Hans worked hard and put us on limits for 4 fisherman before noon despite the cold weather. Can’t wait to go again! Report sent in by Tim Murphy.

Rain and snow have made the roads around the WMA muddy and slippery. Thin ice covers the area’s reservoirs, making ice fishing very dangerous. The NDOW advises visitors to use extreme caution.

Ice conditions remain good with an average thickness of 8 to 10 inches. A group of scouts found good fishing over the weekend. The scouts caught more than 20 fish using a variety of PowerBaits, including chartreuse and orange colorations, and garlic scented options. Anglers are Limiting Out on Stocked Rainbow Trout

Anglers are limiting out on stocked Rainbow Trout below Davis Dam. The fish are taking sunset and chartreuse PowerBait. The marshy areas below Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area have produced a few Striped Bass ranging from 1 to 3 pounds. Cut anchovies and jointed lures are working for both boat and shore anglers. No reports for black bass below the dam.

Success for Smallmouth Bass

Anglers have reported some success for Smallmouth Bass in the Cottonwood Basin. The fish are hitting watermelon worms and light green plastics.
