The Sceirine is still fishing well and the fish down there are also still feeling happy and healthy. The mornings are the best just like the Cali side. There are still lots of nice fish in the 20+ inch range hanging out on the ranch these days. Dry/dropper rigs and drifting crawdad patterns seems to be the best technique down there right now.

The striper bite is steady from Casino Row to Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area. Anchovies are working best, but Bomber Long A’s are doing well on top from dusk to dawn. Rainbow trout action has slowed down due to summer temperatures. Catfish are prowling the shorelines and biting on liver-flavored baits and anchovies fished in deeper water.

Big catfish are hiding above Davis Dam. One local high schooler reeled in a 22-pound cat from shore while fishing with anchovies. Largemouth bass are biting on spinnerbaits and olive nymphs around Cottonwood Cove. Early mornings are most productive for these guys.

Sunfish action continues to be good in most of the ponds with the fish taking mealworms and chunks of night crawlers on small hooks. The best action is during the morning hours before the daytime temperatures hit triple digits. The next catfish plant is scheduled for the week of August 20, but is dependent on water temperatures.
