Nevada Fish Reports

Catch rates have been good this past week with rainbows taking PowerBait in a variety of colors or night crawlers. An angler reportedly caught a 19-inch rainbow weighing in at 2.2 pounds over the weekend. That act was followed by 3.5-pound largemouth bass that hit a small crankbait.

Catfish action was fast and furious following the first plant of the season, but slowed as the fish settled into their new surroundings. Anglers have caught fish with various baits including hotdogs and worms. One angler even caught fish on pieces from a sausage patty. Trout are still taking PowerBait in most of the ponds and color doesn't seem to matter.

It was a normal February at Pyramid. The average catch rate was 4.6 hours per fish (boat= 4.0, shore= 5.5). However, things are picking up in March. Lake remains low. Main launch is unavailable. Boats aren’t available to rent because of low water. Lake hasn’t risen two feet since last July and won’t rise any more.
