Over 100 Rainbow & Brown Trout were caught on the free fishing day at Eagle Valley Reservoir

The Free Fishing Day crowd found good action on Saturday with over 100 fish entered into the largest fish contest. While none were the much sought after tagged fish, all those who participated in the annual fishing derby had a great time. Anglers caught both rainbows and brown trout with PowerBait, spinners and various flies.

Catish & Largemouth are on the chew at Lake Mohave

While there hasn't been much striper activity reported in the Cottonwood Cove area, word is that action has been good for both catfish and largemouth bass. A great time was had by all at the various events held around town for Free Fishing Day. The young and the young at heart alike had fun fishing and catching. The bite is on for bluegill. These scrappy little fish are hitting on mealworms, corn and popcorn. Look for the fish where the light bottom gives way to dark grass beds.

Fishing has been steady throughout the lower basin with anglers in the Government and Vegas Wash area bringing in stripers weighing up to five pounds. Things have heated up here on the Truckee River in Reno-Truckee-Tahoe. The fishing has been very good, morning, to mid-mornings. They are munching on everything. It's a smorgasbord of bug activity. Pmd's, green drakes, caddis, golden stones. Everything is out flying around. Evenings, the big caddis hatches are out and if you're lucky you will run into a nice green drake hatch. Fish the above
