Catfish action is good Striper action is sluggish at Lake Mohave

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
NDOW stocked catfish this week at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City, Sunset Park and Floyd Lamb Park. With water temperatures warming anglers should see improved action for largemouth bass and sunfish; both will usually take night crawlers or meal worms. Anglers are still catching rainbow trout left over from winter stocking activities, but that will slow down as the water gets warmer.

Anglers are having success using shad to catch Stripers in Lake Mead

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Anglers have been finding success using both threadfin and gizzard shad in the Vegas Wash area as live bait. Low water has left vegetation exposed, which is making things difficult for those throwing cast nets. Several members of the Nevada Striper Club caught double-digit fish during their weekend tournament. One fish weighed in at 14.9 pounds. The Overton Arm is giving up catfish

The water level is increasing at Sceirine Ranch causing the fish to become more active

by JIM REID
The Sceirine had a couple tough days earlier this week but has livened up later in the week much like the Cali side. With the water flows a bit higher the fish seem to be much happier and more willing to take midges on the bottom. In addition to the patterns listed for the Cali side you can also try hare's ears, birds nests, dark

Truckee River fishing has been up & down -- like you've never heard that before

by MATT KOLES
Not a whole lot has changed since the last report on the Truckee River. We've had a few good days of rain this week, but the river has settled down to it's below normal spring time flows. Clarity is not an issue unless you travel East of Reno. 250 cubes below Truckee, 700 cubes in the Hirsh, a little higher through the canyons, and about

Indicator fishing has been strong with rumor of a 20 pound fish on Chironomids.  Fish early and late or on windy days for best success. If you have been waiting to catch your 10# plus, this is the year to spend the time out there.  As we get into the month of May the fish are starting to bunch up for the spawn and the

Trout fishing is fair to good & Bass fishing is picking up at Kirch Wildlife Management Area

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Cold Springs and Haymeadow are giving up stocked rainbow trout, some in the 12- to 16-inch range. Bass fishing is picking up on both reservoirs. Trout are spawning at Dacey and getting them to bite has been difficult. Shore anglers using spinners have taken a few bass. At Adams-McGill bass and trout are both taking bait as well as plastics. Potable water is now

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE

With water temperatures warming up so too is catfish action, night crawlers and anchovies are bringing in fish as large as five pounds.

Fishing has been slow at the Las Vegas Urban Ponds

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing has been slow at the urban ponds, probably the result of unsettled weather conditions. Warmwater fish, such as bluegill and largemouth bass are becoming more active as water temperatures warm up.

High winds have made fishing at Lake Mead tougher

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing has been sporadic due to high winds. Anglers should have better odds this weekend with the wind projected to settle down. An angler from the Nevada Striper Club reports that striped bass are hitting on cut bait, but it's a light bite, so hold your poles or go to free spool. Smallmouth bass have been very active, hitting mostly crankbaits and

Lots of smiles from the fishermen that visit Sceirine Ranch

by JIM REID
The Sceirine Ranch has been getting lots of smiles from anglers this week, there's still been some really good action on dry/dropper rigs and small nymphs, as well as a couple of good reports on streamers. Most of the same patterns as are working on the Cali side will also work on the Sceirine. In addition you could try a dark lord, pheasant tail, birds

Fishing on the Truckee has been slow & good all at the same time

by MATT KOLES
Fishing has been up and down this week, seems like it always is in spring. Sadly, spring flows on the Truckee River looks like they have crested, good news for us now, could be bad news for us later. On a normal year the Truckee would be pretty much un-fishable with this hot weather we've had, now the whole thing is fishing even through Nevada.
