Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
Our local angler and friend, Mike Merritt, recently landed a limit of striped bass. Fishing from an island and using anchovies as bait, Mike put together an impressive stringer of fish. These smaller-sized stripers are easy to clean and make excellent fish tacos, along with plenty of other great meals. There are many productive spots for striper fishing below Davis Dam on the Colorado River, and

Conditions have changed quickly

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The conditions have changed quickly here on the Truckee as the releases out of the reservoirs taper off and we see flows settle into their average range. In Glenshire, we are looking at 375 CFS this week, which is near perfect for this section of river, especially as water temps rise and the fish nose up into pocket water, of which there is an abundance

2.6-pound Bluegill

by RUSTY
Now that's a nice panfish! This beauty was brought in by local angler Patrick Pauli. I'm confident it's a bluegill, although it looks similar to the redear sunfish we see in our waters. Patrick was using a small spinner when he landed this impressive 2.6-pound bluegill, measuring 14 5/8 inches in length. It could even be a Nevada state record! He caught it in the Back

Summer is here on the Truckee!

by MATT KOLES
Summer is here on the Truckee River.  Flows have come down to just around normal. Around 650 cfs, here in Hirschdale. About the same all the way down river, and lower some up river. Lots of miles of Truckee River to fish right now. California, Nevada pick your poison.  This is when you look for middle slots, chutes, seams, etc. Trouts will push into the middle of

Fishing for trout has been good with fish up to 18 inches being reported

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing for trout has been good with fish up to 18 inches being reported. The shoreline weeds will continue to increase throughout the month and water levels will continue to drop. As weeds encroach the shorelines, anglers should access the middle of the reservoir with kayaks, float-tubes, etc. for better opportunity. Bass fishing has been good with fish in the 11-13 inch range being caught.

Water levels are low and will continue to drop throughout the summer

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Water levels are low and will continue to drop throughout the summer. The reservoir will likely go dry in the coming months. Anglers should target rainbow trout that were stocked this spring, as well as a few bass and bluegill that carried over from last year.

Fishing is still fair to good in the collection ditch

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE

Brown Dike and Unit 21 have been producing fair to good fishing for bass, with 10-15 smalls per keeper.  The boat opener on June 15 should be good fishing in the South Lake with water levels being at or near

The bite is beginning to improve

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
Pyramid Lake is currently full, and the boat launch remains open. As fish wrap up their spawning cycle, the bite is beginning to improve with warming weather conditions. Most anglers are finding the best success from float tubes, kayaks, or boats while fishing depths between 30 and 50 feet. Productive offerings have included Pyramid-style jigs, Sierra Spoons, midges, balanced leeches, and various hookup baits.

Good time of year to fish it all!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The Truckee was affected very little by this week’s weather in terms of increased flows. In fact, the flows out of Boca Reservoir dropped this week, bringing the Farad gauge down from 1,200 CFS, to around 800. The main effect of the storm was the decrease in water temps, cooling back down into the mid-40’s for a short period. Expect fish to be holding in
