The lake level has increased by about a foot

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level has increased by about a foot. Fishing has been inconsistent, with good days followed by slow ones. Trollers have been more successful in the early morning hours on the west shore using Flashers, Rapalas, or needlefish lures. As the day progresses, stay on the west side but move out to depths of 25 to 35 feet and keep your presentation deep. Shore

June is Prime Time at Pyramid!

by BEARFISH ALLIANCE STAFF
June is probably the most overlooked month at Pyramid Lake. In late April and early May we see the crowds pretty much disappear, and in our heads it is hard to figure out why. Especially this season as we are having a huge inflow from the Truckee River, so water level is up and the temps are just great.  As of this writing we are seeing

Baily is fishing excellent

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Baily is fishing excellent and has been stocked several times this season.  The most consistent way of catching fish at Baily is salmon eggs under the bobber. Fly fisherman slowly retrieving peacock bodied nymphs will find fish just about any time. Trout fishing will continue to be good until water temperatures really climb. After that, anglers should find excellent green sunfish fishing through mid summer.

Walleye fishing continues to be good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Walleye fishing continues to be good with most walleye ranging 17-23”. Night crawlers under a boober or carp cut bait from shore.  Boats have been trolling rapalas or worm harnesses in close to shore.

Kinney pond has been stocked and has been fishing well

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE

Firing off on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Yes, good fishing. Big fish time. Most folks think the rivers too high and not fishing. Well, think that. The Truckee River has actually come down a lot in a week. 2,380 cfs, here in Hirschdale. Down from 4000 and change last week. Good clarity too. Down river a bit bigger and becoming fishable. Off color, but not bad. You can probably hit some spots down

The Truckee has been pumping out some great fish as of late

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The Truckee has been pumping out some great fish as of late. As mentioned above, the river is dropping quickly which indicates stellar fishing in the weeks ahead. As of now, the river is still flooding the banks at spots which means some bushwhacking will be necessary at times to get to the prime holding water. Even with the big drop in flows, we are

Brown and Laker Action on Tahoe

We had an exciting time yesterday on the water today and managed to land a total of 14 fish. Out of the catch, we decided to keep a few for the barbecue, while the remaining fish were safely released back into the lake. Additionally, for many boaters this is the time you are launching your vessel to test its

We have come to the tail end of the season out here

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
This will be our last report of the year for Pyramid Lake as we come to the tail end of the season out here. We will instead be focusing on local still water here forward. The tactics at Pyramid Lake has changed over the last few weeks due to the warmer weather driving fish into deeper water. The fish are mostly post-spawn at this point and

Truckee River Fishing Report

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The Truckee peaked at around 4,000 CFS in the canyon and down through Reno this week due to warm weather. It has since stabilized and is now appearing to drop slowly. With flows like this there are some things to consider to up your odds at finding fish. One of the best things to do right now will be fishing higher in the river system

Flows have been somewhat stable this week

by MATT KOLES
She’s big and bad, the Truckee River. Can you catch fish in this water? Absolutely. Flows have been somewhat stable this week. Between 3,300 cfs-3,600 cfs, here in Hirschdale. Pretty big flows, and a little off color. Not chocolate milk. Down river, she’s much bigger and dirty. It’s gonna be hard to find fishable water from say, Floriston down in through Reno. It can be done,

May is Here, And The Trout Aren't Going Anywhere

by PYRAMID FLY CO.
Yup. It’s May. Crowds have dwindled, the temps are up, and the fishing is still great. Most anglers tend to cut bait and leave Pyramid Lake in the rear view mirror this time of year due to trout openers all over the Sierras and Western United States. The massive winter we encountered this season has put the baffle to this theory, and anglers for whatever

Bass anglers reported good fishing

by CHAD BURTON AND CHRIS BORDEN
The lake held at over 90 percent of capacity and water conditions are finally looking normal. Bass anglers reported good fishing with some days boarding on excellent. Soft plastics have been the best bet with Senko style baits, Ned rigs, and shaky heads working in 5 to 25 feet of water. Large and smallmouth also chased small swimbaits and crankbaits. Striper anglers trolled umbrella rigs

The lake level has started to rise over the last week

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level has started to rise over the last week but is about 12 feet lower than last year at this time. The Douglas County Park is open for RV and tent campers in the improved camp area. As the lake rises, the real estate on the east shore is getting a little smaller each day for shore camping on the far end, but

Big Fish Alert! Lakers up to 18 pounds

If you're looking for some exciting fishing action, then Tahoe is the place to be right now. This weekends trip produced some impressive catches, including three double-digit trophy trout caught back to back! The first catch was a 16-pounder, followed by a 10-pounder, and then finished off with an impressive 18-pounder - all caught within just 30 minutes. In total, they landed eight fish, three of

Truckee River Fishing Report

by MATT KOLES
Here she goes. Up and up and up, the Truckee River. This will be our run-off now. 2,300 cfs as a write this. It’s stopped freezing at night, so now we’ll get our melt going. Honestly, this is when it gets good. I’m more excited than the kayakers. Now, you’ll probably come up here and scratch your head when you see the water. However; if you look for some

The fish are starting to seek deeper water and feed more aggressively

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The tail end of the season at the salty pond is upon us. But, with the big winter and cold spring, fishing the lake remains much better than average for mid-May. The fish are starting to seek deeper water and feed more aggressively, but you will still find a lot of fish in the shallows at this time. Cruising fish will be difficult to catch

The Truckee has been fishing exceptionally for those familiar with high water fishing techniques

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The Truckee has been fishing exceptionally for those familiar with high water fishing techniques. If this type of fishing is new to you, in short, look for walking speed water, 3-5 feet deep and ideally with some structure, such as a cut bank, or submerged boulder. Fly selection is also simple this time of year, large “high protein” flies such as stoneflies, worms, eggs, and
