Striped bass tend to be found offshore in the cooler water. They can be targeted with both hard and soft plastic swimbaits and anchovies. When selecting swimbait colors, shad imitations are a good starting point. Channel catfish can also be caught well this time of year. Anchovies, nightcrawlers, and squid tend to attract bites. A bit more river news: the Colorado River is producing striped bass up and down the system right now. It seems like the fish are everywhere. One of our local anglers stopped by for some prop work and shared this great catch he landed near the Needles Bridge. Up on Lake Mohave, striper fishing is doing very well. Local angler Dan Peightal landed a nice 7.86-pound striper measuring 28 inches while fishing from shore near Davis Dam using anchovies. Reports from other anglers suggest similar success, with anchovies working especially well. Below Davis Dam along the shores of the Colorado River, both lures and anchovies are producing stripers. Our river fishing is going strong. Along the shores of the Colorado River, the striper bite has been excellent. Local anglers have been showing off some great catches from shore. Cari Fox and Steve Shurte were fishing near the casino area on the Arizona side using anchovies. They landed a couple of stripers—Cari’s measured 25 inches and weighed 6 pounds, while Steve’s was 16 3/8

Now this is some great news! The smaller stripers are in, and anchovies are producing some nice catches. Our local angler, Mike Merritt, is showing off his catch after picking up bait at our shop.
