Unlimited striped bass

by ARIZONA GAME & FISH DEPARTMENT
Striped bass tend to be found offshore in the cooler water. They can be targeted with both hard and soft plastic swimbaits and anchovies. When selecting swimbait colors, shad imitations are a good starting point. Channel catfish can also be caught well this time of year. Anchovies, nightcrawlers, and squid tend to attract bites. The best times to catch both striped bass and channel catfish

The Colorado River below Davis Dam continues to be an excellent fishery. Both visiting and local anglers are having great success fishing from shore and from boats. In this area, anglers on the bank and those on the water are both doing very well. Local angler Ron Barnett was fishing from shore near the Parkway Bridge when he landed an impressive trophy striper. The fish weighed

A bit more river news: the Colorado River is producing striped bass up and down the system right now. It seems like the fish are everywhere. One of our local anglers stopped by for some prop work and shared this great catch he landed near the Needles Bridge. Ronnie Charlton was fishing from shore using anchovies and hooked into a nice group of stripers. We’re seeing similar-sized

Up on Lake Mohave, striper fishing is doing very well

by RUSTY
Up on Lake Mohave, striper fishing is doing very well. Local angler Dan Peightal landed a nice 7.86-pound striper measuring 28 inches while fishing from shore near Davis Dam using anchovies. Reports from other anglers suggest similar success, with anchovies working especially well. Below Davis Dam along the shores of the Colorado River, both lures and anchovies are producing stripers. This time of year, smaller fish

River fishing is going well

by RUSTY
River fishing is going well. Smaller stripers are in, and anchovies are the bait of choice. Even up on Lake Mohave, anchovies have proven to be highly effective, catching more fish than any other bait. Below Davis Dam, along the shores of the Colorado River, shore fishing continues to produce. Trout are being stocked by Bullhead City, and striper action can be found up and down

We’re getting into some nice fish here along the Colorado River. One of our local anglers was out fishing from his boat using his favorite lure and landed a trophy-sized striper. The fish weighed in at 16.08 pounds and measured 33½ inches in length. He was fishing in the Upper Big Bend area when he hooked into it. Smaller stripers are hitting on anchovies and seem

Our river fishing is going strong. Along the shores of the Colorado River, the striper bite has been excellent. Local anglers have been showing off some great catches from shore. Cari Fox and Steve Shurte were fishing near the casino area on the Arizona side using anchovies. They landed a couple of stripers—Cari’s measured 25 inches and weighed 6 pounds, while Steve’s was 16 3/8

Now this is some great news! The smaller stripers are in, and anchovies are producing some nice catches. Our local angler, Mike Merritt, is showing off his catch after picking up bait at our shop. He used his boat to reach his favorite fishing spot and landed 9 stripers—just one shy of the 10-fish limit. That’s a great catch for our stretch of the Colorado River

Anglers are catching trout in the 15-inch range

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Anglers are catching trout in the 15-inch range on night crawlers and tube jigs below a bobber. One angler was very happy with a 4-pound trout he caught on a spinner at Adam’s-McGill Reservoir.

Anglers are finding good action for stocked rainbow trout

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Anglers are finding good action for stocked rainbow trout. Spinnerbaits with flashes of gold, blue or red are working well. Night crawlers and PowerBait are reliable backups. The striped bass bite is slow along the river. Anglers are using a variety of spinners, swimbaits and live bait to attract the fish. Black bass activity has been reported around Laughlin Lagoon as the fish prepare to

Lake Mohave Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Few reports have come in from Willow Beach, however, a few persistent anglers have caught stripers topping 20 pounds on AC Plugs. Lake Mohave anglers are seeing an increase in smallmouth bass action as the fish move to their spawning beds. Jigs and craws fished on drop shot rigs are catching as large as 4 pounds. Some anglers are reporting hits on jerkbaits and Glide

Seasonal trout plants have come to an end for the time being

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
With air and water temperatures both on the rise, the Nevada Department of Wildlife seasonal trout plants have come to an end for the time being. They will resume in the fall. The ponds at Veteran’s Memorial and Floyd Lamb Parks were the most recently stocked. As the water temperatures continue to warm, anglers can expect less activity from trout and more from catfish and

Reports say that early mornings and late afternoons are the most productive times for stripers

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Reports say that early mornings and late afternoons are the most productive times for stripers. The fish are taking anchovies and golden shiners from shore anglers throughout the Boulder Basin and into the Overton Arm. A few boaters have had success with jerkbaits and crankbaits in shad patterns. Black bass are engaging in pre-spawn activity and can be tempted by finessing soft plastics in the

Echo Canyon Reservoir Fishing Forecast

by UTAH DIVISION OF WILDLIFE
In the spring, trout fishing — for both boat and shore anglers — is usually best in shallow to midwater depths. For shore anglers, try fishing trout dough bait or a worm off the bottom in shallow water. Boat anglers can do well trolling shallow- to medium-diving crankbaits, pop gear and a worm, or a squid-and-dodger combination. As the water warms, smallmouth bass fishing will

This photo is from our annual “Fish with a First Responder” fishing clinic, held each September just before the Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery begins its trout stocking program. It’s a great example of how good the fishing can be after a trout plant. Our first responders did an outstanding job helping kids get hooked up. As soon as one young angler landed a fish, they
