The fishing has picked up when you can get out

by DOUG BUSEY
The fishing has picked up when you can get out. The day before my last report, I think NDOW read it because they planted almost 4,000 rainbow trout. Now there is a boat inspector at the ramp before you enter. There was no charge for the inspection. Here also, NDOW is concerned about our waters—make sure you say hello to him for me. Most anglers

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
We’re getting into some nice fish here along the Colorado River. One of our local anglers was out fishing from his boat using his favorite lure and landed a trophy-sized striper. The fish weighed in at 16.08 pounds and measured 33½ inches in length. He was fishing in the Upper Big Bend area when he hooked into it. Smaller stripers are hitting on anchovies and seem

Crazy April weather on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Crazy April weather on the Truckee River. More snow this month than we had in March. Go figure.  Flows are still big below Boca. Pouring a lot of water out of Boca. Big flows through Hirschdale and into Nevada. I like the big flows. Tough for the normal wade angler though. Hard to find the spots fish can get out of current. Remember, just look for

Fly anglers should try woolly buggers, leeches and midges. Fish in the shallows and near the edges of muddy water. Bass fishing will still be slow due to cool water temperatures.

With the fish mostly spawning right now, the bite has been a bit tough again this week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
With the fish mostly spawning right now, the bite has been a bit tough again this week despite the shift in weather. At this point in the season a good way to find more consistent fishing would be to get out on a boat or float tube and use a slip indicator with midges or leeches, or a fast-sinking line with a larger streamer. For

The rain/snow mix in town has caused a surge in flows along the whole river

by TROUT CREEK FLIES STAFF
The rain/snow mix in town has caused a surge in flows along the whole river, but flows are already dropping and we’d estimate by early in the week we should see things stabilize and the clarity should improve along with it. The river didn’t run “chocolate milk” from this storm and one of the best things about the Truckee is it is very quick to

The rainbow and brown action has been fair to good along the west side

by DOUG BUSEY
When the wind isn't making white caps. The mac fishing has been fair for anglers fishing deep off the Tahoe shoal and Dollar Point. The rainbow and brown action has been fair to good along the west side in the rocky areas. Most have been trolling F7 or F9 Rapalas in Black/silver or tossing tube jigs right along the top of the rocks. For more

The lake is to the top

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake is to the top. The water is cloudy with a little grassy debris on it. The bass fishing is doing very well. As for trout fishing. I fished with my friend Arnie Phelan from Carson City last weekend. We trolled deep and shallow. I must have tried every size and color of Rapalas in my box. Along with a couple secrets that I
