The Truckee River has fished increasingly well with water levels dropping. The Truckee River at the Reno Gauge is hovering between 1,000-1,200 CFS. The Truckee saw a significant drop in flows along the entire river system this week. Looking at the various gauging stations in the local creeks, it appears most of the drop in flows come from the smaller seasonal creeks as opposed to whatever is controlled by dams. This drop from 1,200 CFS to 750 CFS around Glenshire in under a week is a good indicator

Perfect frigging weather. Springs the best. Usually it don’t stop snowing until June, but this years been pretty nice. Flows are slowly coming down. The flow charts for the river seem to continue along with a mostly upward trajectory, except for Thursday of this week, which brought the CFS at Farad down from 1,550 to 1,200. This will be short lived, and with the warm days ahead we should see flows continue to trend upwards in the immediate future. Continue to fish the soft water, rifles and seams found

The East Walker on the California side of the state line is closed until April 27. 2024. The Nevada side of the river is open through the Winter.   The East has been bumped up to about 212 cfs now, it’s still fishing pretty well but it is a bit more difficult than when it was at a lower flow. The lake has seen a bit of an increase in activity this week, however with all the other great options to be had this time of year, we wouldn’t say that this is our first choice of places to fish right now. The water temps have risen a bit and some of the post spawn fish are starting to feed with a bit more regularity,
