Water levels are good and no ice has formed. Anglers are still reporting fair to good fishing for trout and the weeds have reduced. Trout are expected to measure up to 18″. Try small Panther Martins and Mepps, worms or your favorite PowerBait. Streamers and leeches are the go-to for fly anglers. Bass and catfish catch rates have dropped off with the cooler weather.

Ruby Lake is ice free. Anglers fishing the collection ditch are reporting fair to good angling for trout with trout over 20 inches being reported. Fall stocking has also increased angler success at the south springs. Dry fly fishing has slowed, and fly anglers are switching to leeches, streams and chironomids. The boat dock has been removed from the water for the winter. Thin ice has formed on the Hendricks Arm, Penrod Arm and some small coves, but is NOT safe for ice fishing, especially with warmer weather forecasted into the next week. Open water fishing is good for trout between 16″ and 22″. Shoreline anglers are having luck with PowerBait or night crawlers fished off

The dock at the main boat ramp has been removed for the winter. Water temperatures are sitting in the low 40s and the reservoir is ice free. Trout fishing has been good throughout the reservoir. Fish are hitting combinations of PowerBait and worms fished off the bottom, as well as flashy spinners throw from shore. Best fishing is late morning near transition waters. Good-sized rainbows

100 percent open water

Recent water temperatures are at 400F and is 100% open water. The reservoir received 2,024 rainbow trout this spring, averaging 10 inches. In July, a total of 5,000 tiger trout were stocked averaging 3.7 inches. The fishery is recovering after significant drawdown events.

Comins Lake has seen a loss of ice this week

Comins Lake has seen a loss of ice this week, with only ~80% of the lake being covered in ice with most of the north lake being open now.  Shoreline access along the western shoreline should provide good opportunity to anglers. There is opaque, weak ice on the lake and should be considered unsafe until ice becomes thicker. Fall stocking is complete with 10,059 rainbow

We fished Topaz on November 28 and had a slow morning, but things picked up around noon. We landed two fish at 12:00 and 12:45 while trolling Rapalas and casting small Kastmasters.
