Comins Lake Ice Update and Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The north lake is covered in 2.5 to 3.5 inches of ice. The ice quality on the north lake is poor and anglers should avoid this area. Moving through the narrows and into the south lake the ice is 5 to 8 inches thick. The ice quality in these areas is good and should provide good fishing. On the south end, near the float tube

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The reservoir lost ice since last week, but is still mostly covered in ice. The area north of the old dam is a mix of 4- to 7-inch-thick ice.  The quality of ice in this area was deemed good and should provide with good fishing to anglers. The ice that was firm black ice two weeks ago is now soft and fair to poor quality.

Trout stocking continues

by RUSTY
Trout stocking continues, and we’re in the middle of an excellent fishing season. The Community Park area was the most recent stocking site this week. Anglers are having great success using nightcrawlers and PowerBait, and spinners like Panther Martin and Blue Fox are sure to help you land your limit of five fish. My personal favorite is a variety of trout jigs—they’re both fun and very

Lake Tahoe Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Talking with my friend and fellow angler Jason Blanchette. Their last trip out they trolled Rapalas early and caught a few mackinaws. Then they switched to Blades and a live minnow (which using live minnows, they have to be caught in the lake. you cannot bring in from another source) They ended up catching 12 mac's with the biggest weighing in at 8lbs. Jason took

The lake level has come up a few feet

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level has come up a few feet. There were fish all over the lake. Which we pickup on my scanner. We trolled various Rapalas in f3's f5's and j7's in various patterns with only a few strikes and one to the boat. I spoke with a few other anglers and they had the same luck. Reminder that if you use the park area

The majority of the reservoir is open water

This has been quite a different year than last year, which we can only blame on the lack of weather so far this winter

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The fishing at Pyramid remains slow this week and with sunny, windless days in the forecast, we can’t imagine things improving in the near future. This has been quite a different year than last year, which we can only blame on the lack of weather so far this winter. We are still hopeful there will be a window of some great fishing out here this

Fishing here on the California side has been picking up this week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Fishing here on the California side has been picking up this week. The nymph fishing using worms, baetis and midges has been great, and there has been some opportunity for throwing dries at the Glenshire Bridge area using baetis and midges mid-day. When fishing up high in the system, such as in the town of Truckee, focus on fishing the warmest points of the day.

Ice thickness measurements of anywhere from 4-6 inches

by WILD HORSE STATE RECREATION AREA
We have some good news! After measuring several locations off of the boat ramp, we received ice thickness measurements of anywhere from 4-6”. Please remember that if you are out on the ice, the ice thickness can be more or less depending on where you are at on the reservoir. So please exercise caution when out on the ice and always avoid sketchy looking areas

Pyramid Lake Fishing Report

by THE FLY SHOP
Fishing conditions:  Great Report: With continued unsettled weather patterns bombing us here in California, that means this lake is fishing great! The dinosaur fish are eating Tui chubs and big midge patterns, basically put it in front of them and hang on! Good flies would be Zach's Pyramid Minnow in Tui chub and white. Balanced Leeches tied in lighter colors, Pyramid Bombers, Moo Midges, etc. This season

Another long dry spell for the Sierra's, and the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Another long dry spell for the Sierra's, and the Truckee River, ugh. Super mild afternoons, and very cold at night. Very stagnant weather pattern.  With the cold overnight lows, best to start a bit later in the morning. On the Nevada side, don't really matter to much as it's not nearly as cold at night near Reno.  You're gonna have some pretty low water temps on the
