Following the spring storm this past week, the Truckee boasted some great fishing throughout multiple sections. We saw warmer days following the storm which resulted in increased feeding activity. Here in Reno, flows have hovered between 800-950cfs. While flows are higher than they’ve been in the past few months, the spring flows we are experiencing now are still very fishable and yielding impressive results. If

Holy Smokes, we had a run of what seemed like endless weather events in northern Nevada that made the fishing tough at the Mid for a while, but nevertheless when that window of opportunity opened it would turn on for the anglers.  The fish are on the tail end of the spawn, so look to shift your techniques accordingly. Exciting news! Efforts to restore the fishery at Little Washoe Lake are underway! The Mason Valley Fish Hatchery truck visited the lake this week to stock it with 450 channel catfish from Rye Patch Reservoir. Most of these fish are about 8 inches or larger, and we expect them to grow and flourish! We are hoping to stock Little Washoe with more fish later this

The Carson City Host Lions Club will be hosting the Annual Kids’ Fishing Day at Baily Pond in Fuji Park on Saturday, May 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is free and provides a good opportunity to introduce kids under the age of 12 to fishing and conservation. Striper and bass have been biting more frequently throughout the lake on various baits both from the shoreline and from boats. Soft plastics like smaller paddle tail baits on lead heads have been working well for stripers along with kastmasters and jerk baits. Wiper/ White Bass: These fish are becoming more catchable. Most are reported in the narrows near the Dam. A 22 pounder was recently caught! Try white or shiny lures. The East is running at about 35cfs right now. We’ve had some very mixed reports from the Nevada side of the river lately, some anglers are reporting really good days with 15+ fish caught per day while other anglers are reporting much slower days with only 1 or 2 fish caught per day. Fishing for trout and bass have been really well over the past week throughout the lake on various baits. Nightcrawlers have been working very well drop shot style or using some power bait with a longer leader to come across trout down in the coves. The bass have also been biting various soft plastic creature baits and worms along with paddle tail presentations and jerk baits

The lake level has gone down over the past week or so. Both docks at the Douglas County park are in the water. The shore line in the park is diminishing on the east side for  dry camping. But the park has RV and tent sites available within the park. Shore fishing has been slow to fair. Trollers have done good in the early morning
