Nevada Fish Reports

Fishing Has Been Good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The collection ditch was mostly ice free as of December 10.  Fishing has been good for 10 to 16-inch trout at the collection ditch which was stocked with approximately 7,000 trout in October.  Water level in the collection ditch has improved but it has been a bit turbid which is good news for anglers. Small brightly colored spinners were doing well. Anglers need to use

Wildhorse Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Wildhorse is covered in unsafe ice with pressure ridges.  No fishing reports from here until it is safe, which will probably be around Christmas. Once the ice is safe expect fishing for both perch and trout to be good.  Fall surveys showed good numbers of quality healthy trout and lots of keeper sized perch in the creel.  The river below the dam has low flows

Wilson Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
No recent report, but this lake often mimics South Fork so expect it to be covered in unsafe ice. At last report, fishing was fair to good for 12 to 15-inch trout and bass fishing was very slow.  Black leeches  and chironomid patterns were working for trout. or dark green spinners with contrasting spots are working for spin fishermen.  For the most part, the same

Angel Lake Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The road is closed and the lake is ice covered.  There will be no fishing reports for this lake until late spring or early summer depending upon the winter.

90% Covered in Unsafe ice

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
As of Wednesday, South Fork was 90% covered in unsafe ice.  The only open water for shore fishing was at Jet Ski Beach and fishing was slow.  If there is still open water there this weekend, the usual rainbow sparkle PowerBait fished off the bottom using a slip sinker should work.  Worms can be tried as the sun gets high in the sky and things

Expect Unsafe Ice For Much of The Winter

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Cave Lake is sitting approximately 15 feet below normal water levels.  The lake is covered in unsafe ice.  Due to safety issues with the dam, water is being kept low and with fluctuating water levels, expect unsafe ice for much of the winter.

Cold Creek Reservoir Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The reservoir is currently sitting at approximately 40 to 50% of capacity and is mostly ice free with shore access for fishing.  No report on fishing conditions but expect it to be slow to fair.  The usual worms or PowerBait would be a good place to start.   A total of 4,050 Rainbow Trout were stocked into the reservoir in 2020.  Expect some skim ice along

Mostly Covered With 5-6 Inches of Ice

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Comins is mostly covered with five to six inches of safe ice though there are some isolated  spots that have open water and/or thin ice.  Please advance cautiously and drill a test hole or two in the area you want to fish.  Worms seem to work best through the ice though PowerBait can work as well.  Jigging with minnow imitations can also work.  Anglers please

Illipah is covered in unsafe ice.  Expect it to be unsafe for a couple of weeks.

The Lake Will Open Jan. 1st 2021

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake will open to fishing on January 1st 2021.  Just a reminder, the Topaz Lodge will not be holding their annual fishing derby this year. The water level has started to rise up a little. We will all find out how the fishing is on opening. But the good news is. The Nevada Department of Wildlife has planted over 20,000 lbs of trout over

Fishing Has Been Fair

by DOUG BUSEY
The fishing has been fair up higher on the river for small trout. Remember that in Nevada, the rivers are open to fishing all year.

Walker River Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
The area between Wellington and Yerinton has been producing some good fishing. You will have to do some walking to get to the heavier waters. I would recommend a small spinner  on the casting pole, or a  copper jon on the fly rod.

Shoreline Action Has Been Good For Stripers

by RUSTY
The Lake Mohave shore line near Telephone Cove proved that the lake has some great shore line to explore for some striper activity. Our local angler Raul Gonzalez landed these stripers using anchovies from shore the larger one was 8.46 pounds at 29 inches and a nice second was 6.74 pounds and 25 and 1/2 inches. The wind this time of year can keep most

by RUSTY

The Lake Mohave shore line near Telephone Cove proved that the lake has some great shore line to explore for some striper activity. Thin Ice is Forming Along The Shoreline

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Bass and crappie fishing has slowed with the focus being on rainbow trout. Anglers are starting out with nymphs or spinners when hitting the water, most with good success. Thin ice is forming along the shoreline, but at times it is enough to block launch ramps.

Eagle Valley Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Sunny afternoons are slowing down the thickening of ice across the reservoir. Anglers are fishing from shore where ice is thinnest. Anglers are using night crawlers and PowerBait, a couple feet below a bobber. Overnight freezing temperatures cause ice up along the edges in the morning, but nothing to note. The launch ramp is open, but the fishing pier is still removed. For up-to-date ice

Trout Are The Focus

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Trout are the focus, though fishing activity has been minimal. Due to ice along the shore, boats are unable to launch. Spinners, night crawlers, and Woolly Buggers are generally productive for trout. Some anglers are still trying their luck with bass and crappie, but NDOW has received no reports of fish activity. For up-to-date ice conditions, contact Echo Canyon State Park at 775-962-5103.

Rainbow Trout Are Quick To Bite

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Rainbow trout are quick to bite floating mice tails in green or yellow. Swimbaits in trout and shad patterns are catching striped bass of all sizes when thrown from shore. Catfish activity is picking up in marshy areas. Stink baits and anchovies are the go-to baits.

Striper Boils in The Morning

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Willow Beach shore anglers are catching rainbow trout on a variety of Rooster Tails, PowerBait and night crawlers. The fish are feeding in the morning and activity dies down by noon. Boaters are seeing topwater striper action on the river south of Willow. White lures are fooling fish between 5 and 10 pounds. On the reservoir, anglers are reporting striper boils in the morning just

Anglers are seeing black bass action throughout the day on spinnerbaits and topwater lures. Catfish are taking anchovies overnight near Hemenway.

Let Em Run

by PYRAMID FLY CO.
What a wild week! For early December the lake is fishing extremely well. While we are still using the, "Quality over quantity", motto, some days can be a bit of both. As we pushed through the full moon the indicator bite produced some extremely nice fish. This fishery seems to be getting better and better. Where to fish one asks? Well, if I told you

Fishing on The Rougher Days Has Been Better Than The Clear Days

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
The best fishing currently is Popcorn Rock, Cattleguard, Blockhouse Beach, Wino Beach, and Indian Head Beach and some other areas on the west side of the Lake. Anglers stripping flies are fishing better with beetles and polywads in chartreuse and white or black and purple.  Anglers can also try a Sexton Booby fly in chartreuse and white or black. Balance leeches in tui chub patterns
